(Jesse Costa/WBUR) 1934 Marsha Hunt was presented with the Awareness Award at the Burbank International 42 Horace Mann Magazine Summer 2016 Film Festival in September 2015 to honor her life in film and social activism. The festival featured a gala closing-night premiere of "Marsha Hunt's Sweet Adversity," a documentary about the alumna's life as a movie star who appeared in 54 films over 17 years, before her career was sidelined by the infamous Hollywood blacklist of the 1950s. Hunt continued to appear in films and television shows sporadically, but focused her life on a new role as a good-will ambassador for UNICEF and as an advocate for a variety of causes. Producer Roger Memos spent nine years researching and writing the film, and included details and pictures from Hunt's HM days. The film was named Best Feature Documentary at the festival, and Hunt delivered an inspiring speech upon receiving her award. https://www.dropbox.com/ sh/1nh5zyern5ywgqb/AADSROJsQzR8AP_ i3RTLyFdCa?dl=0 The star celebrated her 98th birthday in October 2015, and, since the film's premiere, has been appearing at numerous film showings and addressing audiences flocking to hear from its subject, who represents old school Hollywood glamor, and is one of the last survivors of the blacklist era. Hunt and the film continue to be recognized with additional awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ojai Film Festival's "Sweet Adversity" screening on November 15, 2015.
