Thomas Lund, a Professor at the S. J. Quinney
College of Law, University of Utah, published
The Creation of the Common Law: The
Medieval Year Books Deciphered. (See p. 38).
A leading authority on the history of wildlife
law along with medieval law, Prof. Lund's
book American Wildlife Law was published in
1980. Lund has written about medieval law for
many years, and believes it should be taught
to understand modern application. Upon his
50th Harvard College reunion he wrote: "I've
spent 30 years studying eight thousand pages
of medieval English case reports ... I've enjoyed
cracking their code for the same reason I love
hiking by myself in the mountains. I like the
sense of being alone and adrift."
