Dahm Robertson received a Kennedy Center
Fellowship in theater design, working with
the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
Jonathan, who graduated from the University
of North Carolina School of the Arts with a
BFA in Scenic Design in 2015, is also Resident
Assistant Scenic Designer at Theater J, and
has been a scenic intern at Weston Playhouse
Theatre Company 2. He has designed four
sets for the Horace Mann Theatre Company's
alumni plays. To view images of his phenomenal sets for theater and dance, and learn

Sophie E. Miller was
one of 14 Americans
"of exceptional ability
and outstanding
achievement"
awarded a Churchill
Scholarship to study
Courtesy Sophie Miller
at the University of
Cambridge in England for one year. Sophie,
who majored in chemical engineering at
Stanford University and graduated in 2015,
pursued a master's degree (by research) in
chemical engineering and biotechnology at
Cambridge, where she tested the in vivo and
in vitro performance of selected metalorganic frameworks, a novel family of
nanoporous materials, as drug delivery
agents for cancer therapeutics. Sophie
stated that she was thrilled to have the
opportunity to pursue her passion for cuttingedge research at Cambridge, to meet fellow
Churchill Scholars, new students and
professors, and to travel around the United
Kingdom and Europe. "From my experiences
over the past few years, I have come to realize
how great of a role collaboration plays in
research, and the importance of building
international bridges to promote the
exchange of scientific ideas," she wrote.
Joining the Bao Research Group as a
research assistant in her sophomore year at
Stanford, during the summer of 2013, she
conducted research at the California Institute
of Technology funded by Caltech's Summer
Undergraduate Research Fellowship
Program. She has presented and received
awards at various national and regional
conferences for her work fabricating
nanoparticle-decorated porous materials
that show promise as next-generation
membranes for the production of hydrogen
fuel via water splitting. In 2014 Sophie won a
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, established
by the U.S. Congress in 1986 and given to
outstanding sophomores and juniors who
intend to pursue basic research careers in
mathematics, the natural sciences or
engineering. Also in 2014, Stanford awarded
her an Undergraduate Advising and Research
Major Grant to conduct an independent
research project in the Bao lab for her honors
thesis. Miller was inducted into Tau Beta Pi,
the national engineering society, as a junior
and led peer mentorship efforts through the
society. As an officer of Stanford's chapter of
the American Institute of Chemical
Engineers, she planned similar peer advising
events for chemical engineering students.
Sophie also plays the baritone and alto
saxophone, was a four-year member of the
Stanford Jazz Orchestra, and served as its
president from 2012-2015.
2015 as an outfielder with the New York-Penn
League State College Spikes, in State College,
PA, Bader racked up stellar stats and, by the
end of his first week was advanced to the
Chiefs, the Cardinals' affiliate in Peoria, Ill.
Playing center field for the Chiefs he helped
the team clinch a playoff spot, and was named
Midwest League Player of the Week for the
week of August 24-30, 2015. In seven games
that week Bader hit .448 (13-for-29) with
two home runs, six RBI, one double and two
triples, and was chosen The Cardinal Nation's
(TCN, a respected blog site) Peoria Player of
the Year. In October 2015 TCN designated
Bader Minors Rookie Player of the Year for
helping lead the Chiefs to the Midwest League
Western Division Finals. In March 2016, during
spring training, the Cardinals ranked Bader
their 10th best prospect and fourth best outfielder among the team's 200 current minor
leaguers. The Cardinals have since moved
Bader to their Triple A team in Memphis.
2012
In February 2015 Kathryn Bartel, then a
junior at MIT, launched the game app "Solar
Sprint." The game, available on iTunes, asks
players to "Use your quick wit and quicker
reflexes to soar through the galaxies in a
quest to collect all the scattered star pieces"
and also "launch into orbits, portal through
swirling worm holes, and avoid asteroids."
Online reviewers have given Solar Sprint
five-star ratings and such high praise as
"awesome fun." Katie graduated from MIT in
2016 and continues her work as a Research
Intern at MIT Computer Science and Artificial
Intelligence Lab. Harrison Bader was drafted
by the St. Louis Cardinals in June 2015, just as
he was heading to the College World Series
with the University of Florida Gators. In his
final stint with his college team before joining
the Cardinals' minor league system as 2015's
100th draftee (third round) Bader showed
incredible speed and fielding acumen in his
left-field position. Error-free, he batted .348
(8-for-23) over the Gators' five games at TD
Ameritrade Park Omaha, with five RBI, four
runs, two homers, a pair of doubles and a .696
slugging percentage, and became just the
fifth player in Gators' history to earn College
World Series All-Tournament honors. He
had similar success in his first season in the
Minors. Beginning his MLB career on June 30,
Sam Torres conducted "Hudson" on April
8, 2016 at the Ades Performance Space at
Manhattan School of Music. He composed the
piece for chamber ensemble and film. It was
performed by his 10-piece chamber ensemble Little Wing. The film aspect of the piece is
composed of scenes taken along the Hudson
River, from Riverdale to the southern tip of
Manhattan. The music melds influences of
Icelandic rock with Steve Reich and American
folk music. This piece, and other exciting
compositions including his solo piano "Tekiah"
