In January, SAE International reached an agreement
with United Kingdom (UK) Ministry of Defence (MoD)
Standardisation (DStan) Team to publish 16 converted Defence
standards as Aerospace Materials Specifications (AMS).
Since the publication of those initial 16 standards, the SAE
Aerospace Standards European office has continued to dialog
with DStan to identify further UK defence standards suitable for
transfer to SAE International.

"SAE International appreciates the opportunity to work
with the UK MoD on this project," said Ed Manns, Manager
of Aerospace Standards for SAE International. "Technical
standards are recognized as the foundation for safety,
quality and the effectiveness of products and services
across the global mobility engineering industry, and this
agreement shows the growing partnership that exists between
government and industry."

sAE itc purchAsEs Ads AErospAcE tEchnicAl stAndArds
In February, the SAE International Industry Technologies
Consortia (ITC) - an affiliate organization of SAE International -
announced the purchase of ADS aerospace technical standards.
ADS is the premier trade organization advancing the UK
aerospace, defense, security and space industries.
The newly acquired standards will be managed through SAE
International's London office. Many of the ADS standards are
used on Rolls-Royce aircraft engines, as well as Airbus and
military aircraft. Since February, the London office has been
working to integrate the program into SAE-ITC, utilizing existing
SAE standardization tools and procedures where possible.
Through the agreement, SAE ITC purchased the rights to
more than 450 active and 3,500 historical aerospace technical
standards. The standards are being re-branded using the SAEITC logo and will continue to be sold individually through SAE
International, as well as through resellers.

"For decades, SAE International has been viewed as a leader in
the global aerospace standards community," david l. schutt,
PhD, Chief Executive Officer, SAE International, said upon the
announcement of the agreement. "We are excited about this
new opportunity to be involved with technical standards that
go back as far as World War I."
Many of the standard parts covered by these standards carry
product qualifications. The qualified manufacturers are listed
in TS200, the QPL, which will ultimately be viewable on the
SAE-ITC website.
The SAE ITC's mission is to build industry infrastructure
tailored to the respective technology, market and industry
member groups while satisfying time horizons and providing
the responsible resources to enable achievement of industry
objectives.
