Results
T2* Mapping
The peroneus brevis tendon exhibited a mean T2* value of
12 ± 15 ms (mean ± standard deviation) and the peroneus
longus tendon was 11 ± 14 ms for the 6-cm-long section
centered around the lateral malleolus. Subregional results
are summarized for the 1-cm (Table 1) and 2-cm regions
(Table 2). For the 2-cm regional analysis, the distal subregion had significantly higher T2* values (P < .05) than the

proximal subregion in both tendons, and this was demonstrated in both the axial and sagittal planes. Significant differences were observed between the T2* values in the axial
and sagittal planes, specifically in the central and distal subregions of the PB tendon and the distal subregion of the PL
tendon. The 1- and 2-cm regional analyses demonstrated
similar results and significant differences. Intra- and interrater measurement reliability for mean T2* values showed
excellent agreement across all subregions, with ICC values
ranging from 0.81 to 0.96.
