detected between the scores of the 2 groups at the 1-, 3-, and
6-month follow-ups (Table 4).
The mean preinjection ankle-hindfoot scores in the steroid group (69.5 ± 10.2) and PRP group (70.6 ± 12.4) were
comparable (P = .672). Postinjection, the score improved
considerably in each group on each follow-up, but with the
numbers available, no significant difference could be
detected between the scores of the 2 groups at the 1-, 3-, and
6-month follow-ups (Table 5).
The FAI consists of 2 components: standardized and normative scores. Standardized scores are calculated so that a
"0" represents a poor outcome/worse health, while "100" is
the best possible outcome/health. Normative scores are calculated so that higher scores indicate better functioning. All
scores are referenced to the general/healthy population
mean normative score of 50. The preinjection standardized
mean score was 65.3 ± 8.0 in the steroid group and 67.6 ±

7.8 in the PRP group. These scores in both groups were
comparable (P = .196). Standardized mean scores increased
steadily in both groups and were almost similar on each
follow-up. With the numbers available, no significant difference could be detected between the scores of both groups
(Table 5). The preinjection normative scores in the steroid
and PRP groups were 27.2 ± 6.4 and 29.2 ± 6.3, respectively, which were below the mean normative score of the
general/healthy population. Postinjection, the normative
scores in both groups increased comparably on each followup and reached near to the normative scores of the general/
healthy population. With the numbers available, no significant difference could be detected between the preinjection
and postinjection scores on each follow-up between the 2
groups (Table 5).
The thickness of the plantar fascia (measured by ultrasonography) was 5.0 ± 1.3 mm in the steroid group and
