Where did you go to school?
I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering from The
University of Texas at Austin, an MS in Mechanical and
Manufacturing Engineering from Texas State University,
and an MS in Technology Commercialization from
The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of
Business.
Where do you work?
I am currently the strategic leader overseeing the
materials science and engineering division, where
I support the U.S. Navy, Air Force, NASA, and other
government and commercial entities. Since graduating
with my MS, I am responsible for optimizing services and
technologies to ensure client success, managing multimillion-dollar
research and development contracts, and
leading cross-functional teams driving high performance
and best practices.
What first got you started with SAMPE?
This year, I'm serving as the SAMPE North America
representative to the SAMPE Global Board of Directors,
chair of the Technical Excellence Committee, member of
the Future Conferences and Events Committee, member
of the Student Chapter Development Committee,

What made you first want to volunteer at SAMPE?
When I started working at TRI Austin in 2003, we were
working on various composite material programs. My
boss at the time told me to attend the SAMPE conference.
I went to all the technical presentations that I could
attend to learn as much as I could about the state of the
art in advanced materials. I was hooked and have been
a SAMPE member since.
Share your favorite SAMPE story or memory:
Texas is a large state and at that time the only local
SAMPE chapter was in Dallas Fort Worth (DFW). DFW
is a three-hour drive from Austin, and they would have
their local events on Thursdays. To attend their events, I
would take two days off work. In 2010, a few of us SAMPE
members in Austin (Brad Duncan, Rick Perkins, and I)
met up and started discussing forming our own SAMPE
Chapter. We then contacted some of the members in the
Houston area to start the South Texas SAMPE Chapter. I
served as the first South Texas Chapter Chair from 2011
to 2016. Since then, we started 5 university chapters
