Tell us a little about your family, friends,
pets, hobbies, etc. . . . anything that will give
readers a little more insight into who YOU
are outside of your various roles in SAMPE
and the industry: I am originally from Puebla
city in Mexico. Puebla is a very picturesque
city near the Popocatepetl volcano and the
mountains. I left Mexico to pursue my studies
in Canada at a young age, and I've been living
here ever since. I consider myself as a curious
and energetic person with many different
interests. I like to play soccer, hike, run, rock
climb, and be outdoors. I also love to travel
and discover new places, and I particularly
love to sample the food from the places I visit.
At home, I like to bake and try new recipes
which I share with my partner Romain, friends,
and colleagues from time to time. I now live in
Montréal with Romain, who shares many of the
same interests and passions.
Where did you go to school?
I went to school at Carleton University in Ottawa,
Ontario, Canada, where I got a Bachelor's
Degree in Aerospace Engineering with a
specialization in Aerodynamics, Propulsion
and Vehicle Performance in 2011. I later got
a Master's Degree from McGill University in
Montréal, Canada in 2017. During this time, I
worked on extensive material characterization
of thermoset polymer systems and proposed
a selection methodology
for composite

materials for space structures. My work also
included the development of process models
in order to predict residual stresses using
these materials.
Where do you work?
I work at the National Research Council of
Canada (NRC), Canada's largest federal
Research & Development organization. I joined
the NRC's Aerospace Research Centre and
its Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies
Centre in 2018, and I serve as a Research
Officer for the Composite Products team, a
large, multi-disciplinary group specialized in
aerospace composite manufacturing.
What first got you started with SAMPE?
My involvement started when I first got to
learn about SAMPE when I was a student
on the NRC's Composite Products team
back in 2009. During this internship, I got
the opportunity to publish my results for the
SAMPE conference in 2010. In 2018, during
my Master's Degree, I got the opportunity
to present a paper related to my research
at the SAMPE conference in Long Beach.
From this conference, I got introduced to the
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and
I immediately wanted to get involved. I also got
involved in the SAMPE Canada Chapter the
same year. In 2019, I led the organization for
the Women in SAMPE Forum in Charlotte. Ever
