Along the way we stopped at a lodge literally built into the rocks. This area is called Twyfelfontein. It is here we saw the sandstone rock carvings and paintings from the hunter-gatherers that lived here 6,000-10,000 years ago. We also stopped to see the petrified forest trees, an accumulation of fossil tree trunks that are 280 million years old.
