SEAHO Report - Fall 2019 - 4

SEAHO President
Hello SEAHO Membership,
It is hard to believe that we are in the middle of Fall semester. It seems as
if only yesterday we were opening our halls for new residents. I hope this
message finds you doing well. Earlier this month the SEAHO Governing
Council, Host Committee, and Program Committee came together to
focus on SEAHO association business and prepare for our 2020 annual
conference. Each group in attendance at Mid-Year plays a crucial role in
our association success. Our time together was fruitful and our work for
SEAHO was meaningful. I wanted to share some of the highlights with all
of you.
* We spent valuable small group time reviewing the draft SEAHO 20202025 Strategic Plan and making suggestions for improvement. We will
spend the next few months refining the plan and will send it out for review to SEAHO Membership
prior to the annual conference. The plan will go up for a vote at the SEAHO 2020 annual business
meeting.
* We put a great deal of focus on document clean up for SEAHO. Chandra Myrick, Past- President,
did an excellent job of leading us through constitutional language review and putting forth changes
for the SEAHO 2020 Business Meeting. As a part of that review process, we are putting forth a
new Executive Board elected position Director of Communication that would replace the appointed
Technology Coordinator role on the Board. We are also putting forth a name change for Educational
Program Committee to the Professional Development Committee. All documents to be reviewed and
voted on at the Business Meeting will be sent out to the membership in early Spring 2020.
* We reviewed Task Force Reports on SEAHO Structure, SEAHO Website, Technology, and
Communications, and SEAHO Placement. We also reviewed a Work Group document on the
SEAHO relationship with Corporate Partners. All of these reports were beneficial in providing
guidance as we reviewed the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan and additional document review for the
association.
* We approved a SEAHO Grievance Policy that outlines a process for SEAHO members to bring forth
incidents of concern. The policy will be outlined in our SEAHO Leadership manual and live on our
SEAHO website.
* We spent a great deal of time reviewing information in preparation for the 2020 annual conference.
It was determined that SEAHO Placement would take place on Tuesday, Feb 25th and the morning
of Wednesday, Feb 26th. We are excited to bring back placement for our membership and hope to
continue to recruit strong talent to the SEAHO region.
* We took a tour of the Omni Hotel and talked through the logistics of our Opening Event at the
Muhammad Ali Center. SEAHO 2020 is going to be a great conference for our membership.
* We are accepting nominations for the following executive board positions to be elected at
annual conference: (1) President Elect, (2) Director of State Reps, and (3) Secretary. Nominations
can be shared with Chandra at pastpresident@seaho.org.
On December 19, 2018, we opened the SEAHO Swag store through a partnership with Hoosier Jiffy
Print. With each item purchased, $2.00 is donated to the ACUHO-I SEAHO Legacy Fund. Through
the store, $144.00 has been raised thus far. If you would like to purchase items you can do so by
visiting it online at https://www.hjpapparel.com/seaho/shop/home. The store is set to roll out items
