Greetings SEAHO!
Happy Spring! I hope all of you are getting a few moments to enjoy the
sunshine (when it's not raining) between the chaos of prepping for closing and
final exams. If you do get those few precious moments, I hope you will use it
to read through this latest edition of the SEAHO Report because we have some
great content. A nice recap of the annual conference including election results
and award winners can be found here, as well as 6 committee reports and 8
different state updates. We also have 8 feature articles on topics ranging from
identity to experiential learning, from supervision to maximizing the summer
months. There is truly something for everyone to be found in this edition.
On a personal note, I want quickly thank my family and colleagues on this,
my last edition as the SEAHO Report Editor. I published my first article
SEAHO Report Editors new and old:
Briana Cresswell and Jeannie Hopper
in this magazine in 2006 as a bright-eyed first year professional, and since
then this publication has been a constant part of my work life. I joined the
SEAHO editorial board in 2009 (10 years ago!!) and it was the first place I found a professional home with this
organization. It takes a lot of time to put all of this together, and I have seen it through many iterations, from
all print copies to the big move to the electronic medium, then to mobile-ready, and now incorportating videos
and new formats. Thanks to the fine folks at Athens Printing and Nxtbook who put up with my many questions
and ideas each year, my work colleagues at Tennessee and Ole Miss for putting up with my annoying requests
to publish and send me photos, and my amazing family for letting me edit articles at home on the couch each
night. I may complain about the work at times, but I will absolutely miss this little gem of a magazine.
But, I am happy to say that I am passing it off into great hands! Just as I took over from the amazing Ben
Wicker, I am now passing the editor torch to Briana Cresswell at Louisiana State University. Briana has served
as the Feature Articles Editor for the SEAHO Report for the past year, and she has published extensively in a
variety of mediums. She is excited about the new role, and I know she will bring her own flair and ideas to
this wonderful little magazine. Keep submitting great content, keep pusing yourselves and your staffs to write,
and keep reading and responding to the ideas being presented by our profession. The SEAHO Report is a way
to keep the conversation moving all year, and I am looking forward to seeing it continue that legacy for many
years to come!
Once you have read through this edition of the SEAHO Report, please take the time to visit seaho.org to submit
your own ideas for our next installment. The submission deadline for the summer edition of the Report is
July 9th, so go ahead and add time to your calendar to sit down and share your thoughts with your SEAHO
colleagues!
