North Carolina Updates

Queens University of Charolette
Queens University of Charlotte will be opening its
newest residential facility in August! Northwest Hall
is suite-style and will house 122 upperclassmen and
Resident Assistants. The addition of Northwest brings
the total number of halls on campus to eight with the
capacity to house 1,040 students.
Jamari Timmons and Andrew Breese will
be joining the Queens University of Charlotte
Department of Residence Life and Housing team as
our Graduate Hall Directors at the end of July. Jamari
will lead our newest upperclassmen residential facility,
Northwest Hall. Drew will provide leadership in
Albright Hall, a freshman community. Each GHD will
supervise Resident Assistants and help the department
with various functional areas while they work towards
completing a graduate program at Queens.
Chemaria Washington has recently been
hired as the Assistant Director for RA Leadership
and Development. In her role, Chemaria will be
responsible for teaching the RA class, supervising
a Graduate Hall Director, overseeing the daily
operations of three residence halls and the RAs
residing there. Chemaria's role also includes providing
leadership and direction for the Sed Min Household
and the Honors Living and Learning Community.
We are very excited to have Chemaria join our
professional staff!
Queens University of Charlotte welcomed its 21st
president, Daniel G. Lugo, J.D., on July 1. A proven
leader in the higher education sector for nearly two
decades, Lugo has led admissions, recruitment and
advancement initiatives at three top-ranked liberal arts
institutions.
University of North Carolina Greensboro
The Office of Housing & Residence Life at the
University of North Carolina Greensboro is excited
to welcome a new senior leadership team member
and four new professional staff members in our
Coordinator for Residence Life (CRL) role. LaFarin

Meriwether (previously at Florida State University)
has accepted the Associate Director for Residence
Life role. Additionally, joining our team at the CRL
positions are Crystal Thibodeaux (North Carolina
State University alum), Diana Aguillón (Western
Carolina University alum), Jayla Beeler (Loyola
University Chicago alum), and Briana Welsh
(Tarleton State University alum).
The Office of Housing & Residence Life at the
University of North Carolina Greensboro had a
number of special guests working with them this
summer with various departmental experiences and
operations. UNCG HRL is very appreciative and
impressed with the hard work of Amy Timmerman
(ACUHO-I Graduate Intern of Florida Atlantic
University), Maddie Greenberg (ACUHO-I Graduate
Intern of Florida State University), Cloe Bourdages
(ACUHO-I Undergraduate Intern of Coastal Carolina
University), and Christopher Spellman (NUFP
Undergraduate Intern of Old Dominion University).
