SEAHO Report - Summer 2019 - 4

SEAHO President
Hello SEAHO,
I recently returned from Toronto, Canada and the ACUHO-I Annual
Conference & Exhibition (ACE). This was a great conference with more than
1,200 delegates and a very strong Corporate Partner showing including 142
companies making up 196 booths with 550 exhibitors present. You will be
happy to know that SEAHO was well represented with more than 215 SEAHO
members in attendance. Many of these members were engaged in leadership
roles across the association, presenting sessions, and volunteering at the
conference. ACE was a great opportunity to hear engaging keynote speakers,
attend valuable program sessions, visit with corporate partners in the exhibit
hall, and network with colleagues from across the globe. I have included a link
produced by ACUHO-I that shares valuable housing data from the association
www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLivk2H4IOA. I would like to also take a
moment to recognize ACUHO-I award winners from SEAHO that were recognized at the annual conference:
* Outstanding New Professional Award- Olivia Moon, University of South Florida
* Outstanding Mid-Level Professional Award- David Hibbler, Jr., University of South Florida
* Dissertation of the Year Award- Laura Sanders, The University of Alabama

Birmingham
I would encourage you all to check out the ACUHO-I Website and social media pages to explore additional
highlights from the conference. Here are some additional SEAHO updates from the past few months:
* The University of South Carolina hosted their final RELI. Many thanks to Kirsten Kennedy, April Barnes,
and Josh Wise for the hard work of their entire team. They have made our RELI Faculty and Participants
feel very welcomed these past three years. I would also like to thank Stephanie Carter and Shannon Jordan
for their leadership in serving as RELI Co-Coordinators this past year.
* The SEAHO Executive board met in Richmond, VA to discuss a wide range of SEAHO business. During
our time together, we reviewed the various SEAHO guiding documents, received an update on current task
forces, completed an in-depth budget overview, began developing the foundation of our SEAHO 2020-2025
Strategic Plan, and completed a productive zoom meeting with the 2020 Host Team.
* The 2020 Host Committee met in Louisville, KY to discuss the 2020 schedule and begin working with
the hotel on logistics for the conference. They are working hard to put together an excellent conference
experience for the membership. Please remember to mark your calendar for SEAHO 2020 (February 25-28,
2020).
* The SEAHO 2020 Call for Programs are officially open. Please set aside some time to submit your
proposal: https://www.seaho.org/page/programsub. The proposal deadline is September 13, 2019.
