Student Affairs around the Region Virginia Updates cont. Dr. Anthony White joined our team as the Director of Housing and Residential Life in May. We have hired new RDs and a new Area Coordinator as well: Gabriel Poindexter joined team as Area Coordinator . Hannah Sawyers joined team as RD. Jayde Ware joined team as RD. Radford University Housing and Residential Life Department updates: We restructured our department to provide more support to first year students and center their engagement around the residence halls and the curriculum & Mentorship and Student Learning & Engagement The University of Virginia College at Wise Lacey Matthews and Brian Stacy have been hired as Community Coordinators at The University of Virginia's College at Wise. Lacey is a 2019 graduate from Ferrum College and Brian is a 2018 graduate of UVa-Wise. Virginia Commonwealth University Staff Update VCU is excited to welcome three new Hall Directors to our team. Elizabeth Beavers joins us from Christopher Newport University, Natalie Torres hails from Syracuse University and Casey Yocum is joining the VCU team from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. We're glad to have them on board! In the restructure we gained an Area Coordinator to oversee a large first year experience building, changed and added a position to create three Assistant Director roles to focus on different locations and collateral areas, and added a Facilities and Housing Assignments Manager Facilities/Program Updates VCU is hitting a milestone in our 2014 Master Plan this summer, in which we planned for all first-year residents to be housed on one campus. Five years later, we are hitting that milestone and closing our last remaining residence hall on the medical campus. We are excited to have all of our students housed on one campus and to hit this major goal for our department. We are in the process of restructuring our residential curriculum to better meet the needs of our students We hired a new Director which we are very excited about and now are focusing on our goals, mission and vision to align with our new team Lastly, we have seen a record number of new student applications for fall 2019 housing. We are also seeing a significant increase in interest in first-year LivingLearning Communities and are excited to see how this year shakes out. We hired 6 new full time Resident Directors (potentially a 7th to come) Virginia Tech University Virginia Tech Housing & Residence Life has many new team members and is thrilled to be welcoming them to Blacksburg and the SEAHO region: We have acquired and are reconstructing apartment complexes for student housing Roanoke College VACUHO will hold its annual summer Drive-In conference at Roanoke College on July 12th. This year the conference will focus on the topics of Supervision SEAHO Report Summer 2019 Stephen Henninger transitioned to a new role in our department on June 10th, now serving as an Assistant Director of Housing & Residence Life.
