ALABAMA UPDATES
Auburn University
Auburn University Housing is looking forward to
our first year of our new master lease with 160
Ross starting this fall. This master lease will offer
residents the opportunity to live off campus while also
maintaining the convenience of on-campus housing.
Staff Recognition
Auburn University Housing would like to congratulate
our very own Hannah Box for being awarded the
Auburn University Spirit of Excellence Award. This
award is given monthly to an Auburn University
employee who goes above and beyond in their job and
exceeds expectations. Hannah serves as the Access
Coordinator for Auburn University Housing and also
currently serves as the chair of the Technology and
Marketing Committee. Whether it be conducting a
key audit or continuously updating our social media,
Hannah truly demonstrates the qualifications for this
award in everything she does.
Each year Auburn University recognizes employee
service to the university and recent graduates through
the annual Employee Recognition Program. Although
our staff were not able to be recognized in person, we
are still proud of their achievements and want to thank
them for their dedication to the university and our
department.

COVID-19 Campus Responses
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused campuses
everywhere to rethink and restructure daily operations.
The past few months have been challenging, but the
staff at Auburn University Housing (AUH) has been
incredible through it all. Whether it was overseeing the
move out of 4800 residents or conducting both room
selection and move-in registration remotely, the AUH
staff has been able to adapt quickly and efficiently.
In preparation for the fall, AUH has completely
restructured the move-in plan, adding more movein days and creating a centralized check-in process

that includes a digital check-in. Additionally, in
alignment with guidance from Auburn University, we
have created a levels of operations plan in preparation
for multiple scenarios that could take place regarding
COVID-19. We have also created a complete quarantine
and isolation housing plan in the event that a student
is exposed to or is diagnosed with COVID-19.
While the fall is going to look different than it has in
the past, we at AUH are looking forward to welcoming
our students back to campus and are working hard
to provide a safe and healthy environment for every
resident. New protocol will include the requirement
of all residents to wear masks while in university
buildings, the posting of signage throughout residence
halls promoting physical distancing and healthy
hygiene, reducing and spacing out furniture in the
common areas, placing hand sanitizer in all residence
halls, and increasing cleaning and sanitation of all
common areas.

The MS and Graduate Certificate in Higher Education
Administration at UAB has been approved through both
the Alabama Commission for Higher Education (ACHE)
and the UAB Board of Trustees (BOT) starting for Fall
2020.
