SEAHO PRESIDENT
Hello SEAHO,
What a time to be alive! This continues to be an interesting
period for higher education that has challenged us
in unforeseen ways. My summer has been filled with
adjustments, firsts, and contingency plans and I know that
many of you have had the same experience. My hope is that
the operating procedures that you put in place make opening
easier and when you get thrown the curveball you do what
housing professionals do, adapt. As I have said before, I'm
proud of the professionals that we have in this region and the
work that you all are doing is second to none.
The ACE virtual summit was held this summer in your office, living room, or other virtual area. The business
of ACUHO-I moved forward despite the pandemic. I also want to take a minute to say congratulations to the
people from our region who were recognized with awards from ACUHO-I at the virtual summit:
* 2020 Parthenon Winner - Jennifer Wilder, Florida A&M University
* Outstanding Graduate Student - Miyah Wilson, North Carolina State University at Raleigh
* James C. Grimm Leadership - Gerry Kowalski, Emeritus/Retired
* Carmen L. Vance Herstory - Holly Alexander, College of William and Mary
* S. Earl Thompson - Diane Porter-Roberts, University of Florida
* Dissertation of the Year - Krista Prince, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
* Betty L. Harrah Manuscript of the Year - R. Jason Lynch, Old Dominion University
As I alluded to in the recent state of the association address, your executive board met virtually this summer
over three days to discuss the business of the association. We are working hard to continue operations for
the association with the limitations of the pandemic.
The 2021 host committee continues to work on the conference experience in the midst of the pandemic also.
We will be forthcoming with information on the SEAHO 2021 conference as there are new developments.
I can't express enough my gratitude to you all for the work you have been doing both for SEAHO and your
respective campuses. I hope that you find some personal time to rest and recharge in the midst of everything
that is currently transpiring and that you have a great year. Be well family!
