STUDENT AFFAIRS AROUND THE REGION
from the University of South Florida's College Student
Affairs graduate program while working in the Center
for Leadership and Civic Engagement. She is a proud
UT alumna, earning a B.A. in International and Cultural
Studies in 2014. Amber is excited to continue working
in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of
Tampa in this new role.
Nicholas Johnson will be joining as an Area
Coordinator in Palm Apartments. Nicholas is a recent
graduate of the Master of Education in College Student
Affairs program at the University of South Florida.
During his two years as a graduate student, Nicholas
served as the Hall Director with the Housing and
Residential Education department at the University
of South Florida St. Petersburg overseeing day-today building operations, residential curriculum,
and student and staff supervision. Nicholas is also
dedicated to the development of the students on his
staff and enjoys helping students grow personally and
professionally. Nicholas received his Bachelor of Arts
degree in Criminology from the University of South
Florida where his career in student affairs began with
the Campus Recreation department. Nicholas comes
with a firm foundation of education and experience
and is passionate about creating inclusive and
equitable spaces, as well as the role that student affairs
professionals get to play in student development and
student success.

KENTUCKY UPDATES
Transylvania University

Transylvania University Transylvania University is
wrapping up construction of a new campus center
scheduled to open in August. Mr. Brien Lewis installed
as Transylvania's 28th president on July 7th. Dr.
Jeremy Sheffield hired as the Director of Housing
and Residence Life in February. Spalding University Providing all students with a single-occupancy room
assignment for the 2020-21 academic year

New Staff & Job Transition Profiles
New Coordinator/Assistant Director Information
2020 - 2021
Matt Peterson is a new Residence Hall Coordinator
and will be working in Garrett Hall. Matt completed
his Bachelor of Science, Art Education and K-12 Visual
Art License at the University of Wisconsin-Stout
and a Master of Science, Higher Education at the
University of North Dakota. Previously, Matt worked as
Residential Life Area Coordinator at the University of
Minnesota Crookston. During his time at the University
of Wisconsin-Stout Matt served as a Residential Hall
Director, Resident Advisor, and Summer Conference

Lead.
Jacob Livingston is a new Residence Hall Coordinator
and will be working in College Hill Suites. Jacob
completed has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from
Millikin University and a Master of Science in College
Student Personnel at Western Illinois University.
Previously, Jacob was a Residence Life Summer
Intern and Senior Resident Assistant for Living
Learning Communities at Millikin University. While
attending Western Illinois University Jacob worked as
a Practicum Graduate at the LGBTQ Resource Center,
an Inter-Hall Council Graduate Advisor, and Assistant
Complex Director.
Dana Mattern is the new Interim Associate Director
for Conduct. Dana worked at ECU as a Residence Hall
Coordinator from 2014-2019 before taking the position
of Coordinator for Youth Programs and Camps where
she developed Regulation and Standard Operating
Procedures to comply with the new system policy and
state laws related to the protection of minors served by
the ECU community.
Aracelis Figueroa is a Residence Hall Coordinator
working in White Hall and has assumed additional
Assistant Director of Recruitment responsibilities for
the year.
Bailey Steckbauer is a Residence Hall Coordinator
working in Gateway East and has assumed additional
Assistant Director of Recruitment responsibilities for
the year.
Esmeiling Cabral is the Assistant Director of Living
Learning Communities and has assumed additional
Assistant Director of Recruitment responsibilities for
the year.
University of North Carolina Greensboro
University of North Carolina Greensboro is excited to
welcome:
Keeyana Talley (She | Her | Hers) joins UNCG HRL
as the Assistant Director for Academic Initiatives
and Experiential Learning for Residence Life; after
previously serving four years as a Community Director
with Clemson University's University Housing &
Dining.
Aaron Kidd (He | Him | His) joins UNCG HRL as the
Coordinator for Residence Life (CRL) role for the
Lexington & McCormick residential community;
after previously serving in a dual role as a Graduate
Assistant for Operations and Graduate Hall Director
for a residential community at Winston Salem State
University.
