STATE UPDATES
Throughout his
time at UWA, he has
served as a teacher
and mentor to many
future housing
professionals,
including many
who are still active
in SEAHO today. He
has been an avid
supporter of ALAHO
and SEAHO, serving
as Alabama's SEAHO
State Editor in
1988, SEAHO State
Representative in 1994, SEAHO 2001 Host Committee
(Placement Sub-Committee Chair), and ALAHO
President in 2003, along with many years of informal
advising and Historian for our state organization.
Noting the importance of professional development
and networking, he has attended the ALAHO and
SEAHO conference almost every year, and supported
members of his housing team in attending these
conferences as well. At UWA, he was honored as a
founding member of our circle of Omicron Delta Kappa
and served as the Chapter Coordinator for several
years. The University of West Alabama is forever
grateful for the impact Luther Gremmels has had on
our university community and we wish him well as he
moves into this new life journey.
Angela Ward is the new Director of Housing and
Residence Life upon Luther's retirement. UWA also has
a new Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment
Management, Dr. Melissa Haab, as of October 1. Dr.
Haab joins UWA from Itawamba Community College
where she served as Vice President of Enrollment
Management.
University of South Alabama
The USA Housing Office is pleased to welcome Holly
Banning as the Associate Director of Housing Business
Operations.
Auburn University
Auburn University Housing is
sad to announce the departure
of Dr. Kevin Hoult, Executive
Director of University Housing
and Residence Life. Dr. Hoult
accepted a new position at
his alma mater and previous
institution, Jacksonville State
University, where he now serves as the Director of
Auxiliary and Business Services. Dr. Hoult made
significant contributions to the housing field and the
Alabama Association of Housing Officers (ALAHO).
Dr. Hoult will be greatly missed at Auburn University
Housing and we wish him the best in his return to JSU.
In addition to the departure of Dr. Hoult, Auburn
University Housing would like to announce several
other staffing updates. Ellori White, Area Coordinator,
departed the university over the summer. She is
currently exploring her passion areas outside of higher
education. Ellori first joined the staff in 2017.
Emily Scarpa, Area Coordinator, recently accepted
a position as a Coordinator in the Office of Student
Conduct at Auburn University. Emily joined the staff
as a RA in 2014 and also served as a Graduate Area
Coordinator. She also served as the Treasurer of
ALAHO.
Christian Stokes has been hired as an Area Coordinator.
Christian comes to us from Middle Georgia State
University where she served as a Residence Life
Coordinator. She also previously worked at the Art
Institute of Atlanta and Savannah State University.
Theresa Wivinus will also be joining the staff as an
Administrative Associate. Theresa recently moved to
Auburn from Minnesota. The department also recently
concluded a search from a Coordinator of Housing
Operations and will be completing a search for an Area
Coordinator.
Finally, Auburn University
Housing would like to
congratulate Maureen
Young, Associate Director
of Residence Life, on being
selected as Supervisor of
the Year for the Division
of Student Affairs. The
annual award recognizes
an outstanding supervisor
who made a significant impact and contribution to
those they supervise by demonstrating extraordinary
leadership, professionalism, and guidance.
