SEAHO Report - Fall 2021 - 4

SEAHO PRESIDENT
Welcome to another academic year, SEAHO! The year is moving along
swiftly and our students are now well settled in. Though we are still
traversing through life amid a pandemic, we are able to be vaccinated
and enjoy a bit of getting back to a world that once was - football
games and tailgating, and just out enjoying life.
SEAHO team members have been hard at work preparing for the year
ahead. Here are a few highlights.
The SEAHO website has been undergoing a few upgrades this year.
If you have not done so lately, be sure to take a few minutes to visit
SEAHO.org. A few updates are the latest SEAHO 2022 information,
our current Strategic Plan, the latest SEAHO Reports, and the latest
YouTube links to the SEAHO 2021 programs.
New to SEAHO? Welcome! Please log in at www.seaho.org to register
for your free SEAHO membership and get the latest updates from the
association.
There have been a few changes on the SEAHO Executive Board team
since February's conference.
* Director of Committees - Mike Jones had to step down as
our Director of Committees as he has accepted a new job and is no longer working in
housing. I want to thank Mike for his dedication and contributions to SEAHO. In just 6
months, Mike guided the Committee Chairs to the year ahead and challenged SEAHO's
focus about our membership.
Our new Director of Committees is Dr. April Barnes, Executive Director of
University Housing at the University of South Carolina, who accepted the
position in August. I look forward to working with April over the months ahead.
* Director of Communications - Kaila Kowalski has also accepted a new position
outside of the higher education housing profession. Kaila has been gracious
enough to continue serving SEAHO until the incoming person can fully take on the
communications responsibilities.
Our incoming Director of Communications is Bryan Botts from North Carolina
State University. Welcome Bryan!
We recently sent out an email asking our SEAHO SHOs what travel and development
opportunities looks like for your institution this year. Over 90% of respondents can travel -
exciting news for SEAHO 2022 possibilities.
Plans are well underway for an in-person SEAHO 2022 conference this year. The
conference, led by Bob Boyle, Senior Director for Housing and Residence Life at the
University of North Florida, and his talented host team members, will be in Asheville,
NC, March 1-4. We will continue to monitor the pandemic. Details about program
proposal requests, awards, elections, and many other development opportunities are
now live at www.seaho.org.
Serving SEAHO
We have a few opportunities for members to serve SEAHO directly. If you have an interest in
serving or want to nominate someone, please complete a brief nomination/interest form here
ASAP. Some options include:
* RELI (Regional Entry Level Institute) Co-Chair - we are seeking a co-chair for RELI
to work with Katrina Pawvluk, at NCSU this year. Dr. Anthony White completed his
term this past summer. Co-chairs are expected to have served as faculty for at least
