SEAHO Report - Winter 2021 - 13

SEAHO NEWS
Throughout my career, I have had many opportunities to volunteer and serve at the state, regional, and national
levels.  From being on the NCHO host committee, to serving as a RELI faculty member, to being a member of
the core programming committee for ACUHO-I, I have been honored to serve the organizations which have
helped me to grow.  Below you will find some of the housing committees and service opportunities I've been
involved in:

* NCHO Host Committee

* KRACKLE Conference Chair

* KAHO Host Committee

* KAHO Programming Committee

* KAHO State Representative for SEAHO

* SEAHO Programming Committee

* SEAHO Awards Committee

* SEAHO Fireside Chats

* SEAHO RELI Faculty Member

* ACUHO-I Programming Committee

* ACUHO-I Core Programming Committee
I would love to continue and deepen my involvement in SEAHO as the Director of Committees.  I believe the
SEAHO committees are the heart of our organization.  They provide the opportunity and structure for our
members to give back, contribute, and help our profession to grow.   The position serves as a resource to those
committees and if selected I would focus my time and energies on investing in each committee chair, helping
them grow and develop their committees.
When I think about the work that SEAHO is committed to, there has never been a more important time to
engage our membership.   The last nine months have challenged our profession and changed the nature of
our business.  It is essential that we help our members with what they are going through now as housing
professionals but also to steer our organization to plan for the future.  The Director of Committees is the liaison
between that essential work and the governing council.  I am committed to advocating for the committees
I serve while assisting the committees to understand the philosophy and vision of the governing council.
Most importantly I believe that my role would be to help each committee chair engage more of the SEAHO
membership in their vital work.  Each member has talents and experiences to share and it is our responsibility
to assist them in identifying their place of service.   Thank you for your consideration of my nomination!

From the moment I stepped foot at my first SEAHO conference, the feeling
of excitement and joy of gathering together was palpable. There were eager
smiles on people's faces as they absorbed and/or shared a wealth of knowledge
and drive for student advocacy with one another. It was the first time in a
long time that I truly felt I was surrounded by like-minded people who had
no other desire than to provide the highest level of service to students and
student leaders. I can recall sitting in the opening luncheon and being in awe of
the leaders serving our region. It was the year I witnessed Kathy Hobgood, an
incredible female role model, become SEAHO President. At that moment, I knew
my professional journey had a greater purpose than I could accomplish alone at my home institution.
Since attending my first SEAHO conference in 2015, I have actively sought out ways to be involved and give back
to the region. My involvement up to this point within SEAHO is listed below:

* SEAHO Marketing and Organizational Promotions (MOP) Committee Member, 2015-Current

* James C. Grimm Outstanding New Professional Award, 2018

* Regional Entry Level Institute (RELI) Participant, 2018

* Launched SEAHO Swag Store, 2018

* SEAHO MOP Chair, 2018-2019

* SEAHO Annual Conference Host Committee Marketing Chair 2019-2020

* SEAHO Program Committee 2020-Current
