SEAHO Report - Summer 2023 - 15

Day 4 was sessions on Life after Live-On, Assessment, and Professional Development. Liz
Ingrao, University of Miami, talked to us about Life after Live-On and the reality of navigating moving
off campus and into upper leadership roles. Renee Richard-Gonce, Louisiana State University, walked
us through different assessment tools and experiences so that we could go back to our institutions
and be strong assessors. Bree Gates, University of Mississippi, helped us map our past, present, and
future professional journeys so that we could be well-equipped to go wherever we wanted.
While all the 90-minute sessions and panels scraped the surface of these different topics, we were
able to take away key points to take back to our institutions or to learn where to begin if we wanted
to learn more about these different topics.
Bronwyn Frost, Samford University, shared, " I will comment on one of Wesley's comments on the
final day when faculty members were sharing their 'final advice.' One of our peers asked what the
commonality was between the members of the 2023 RELI cohort; Wesley's response was something
along the lines of the common point being those who were chosen were individuals who needed
this. He then elaborated by saying that the other commonality was knowing that the faculty for this
cohort could help us each individually. I will say I could not agree more with Wesley's comment
on our commonality being that everyone in the cohort needed this experience for one reason or
another. "
Overall, RELI 2023 consisted of a lot of reflection, support, relationship building, and overall reengagement
in the field of Residence Life and Housing. The co-chairs, Liz Ingrao, University of
Miami, and Wesley Todd, Wake Forest University, consistently supported us through this journey.
They told us we deserved to be there in that space and that we could be world changers.
RELI will be hosted at North Carolina State University for the next 3 years so visit the SEAHO website
