SEAHO Report - Winter 2023 - 11
TREASURER
E.J. WALICKI
EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY
Greetings SEAHO! I am proud to call this region my home throughout my
entire professional career. SEAHO has allowed me to build a network of
colleagues, mentors, and friends who have all played a part in my professional
journey. I believe strongly in professional development for our field and being
able to give back to our profession. I am humbled by the opportunity to be
considered for the SEAHO Treasurer position.
I have always been interested in how housing departments build their budgets
and use their revenue to impact the residential experience. Now as the Director
of Housing and Residence Life at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, I
am the budget manager for all our revenue, expenses, and capital projects. I understand the pressures on
all fiduciary agents to ensure financial viability for their department (while also trying to meet the needs of
residents and professional staff. Even as we have moved out of the pandemic, its impact can still be felt
throughout many institutions in the resources they have available to them and how those resources are
allocated. I believe in fiscal accountability and transparency at any time, and as Treasurer, I will be upfront
about SEAHO's financial situation and what that allows us to do as an organization. Two roles that have
prepared me for this position were serving as the Budget & Finance chair for the SEAHO 2019 conference
and serving for multiple years on the Corporate Partners Committee. Our Corporate Partners are a key facet
of our annual conferences and they allow our conferences to be financially successful. Our annual conference
is a big piece of our overall financial portfolio and understanding that structure gave me a strong insight into
how our finances in different parts of the organization are connected.
I have also been involved within ACUHO-I and with my state organization, FHO. I served on the ACUHO-I
Business Operations Planning Committee for three years as Program Co-Chair, Chair-Elect, and then Chair
for the first-ever virtual conference. As an SHO within my state, I have been involved in many discussions
regarding the organization and finances. While the organizational structures of all these organizations are
different, my experience with each organizational and financial structure will allow me to bring that knowledge
to the SEAHO Treasurer position. Our association's finances continue to play a key role in our Strategic Plan
so I believe I can provide strong insight and feedback to help SEAHO continue to move forward and remain
fiscally strong.
Some of my goals would be standardizing budget processes, forms, and templates for the organization and
conferences, practicing fiscal transparency for our membership throughout each fiscal year with different
reports and data, and researching best practices within our field and with other professional associations to
bring to SEAHO. I hope that I will have the opportunity to serve this association and serve all of you for the
next few years!
