as possible, to understand the current needs of our membership and how SEAHO can support the
challenges our profession is facing.
* Maintain the fiscal health of the SEAHO while being responsive to the association's needs.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time contributing to and caring for this association. I have been able to
serve on five different committees and three task forces, as a 2020 RELI faculty member, on the 2022 Host
Committee, as the Director of Committees, and on the Executive Board. I have presented numerous times
and coordinated SEAHO Fireside Chats. I have also been involved at the state (NC, KY, and SC) and national
level (ACUHO-I). I have the experience necessary to care for SEAHO and accomplish the goals I set forth.
Our profession has seen a lot in the past three years post-covid. We have had to evolve and pivot through a
consistently changing landscape. SEAHO has become a safe haven where we can gather together to learn
and grow and help each other succeed. I am so grateful to be part of an association that supports one
another. I would welcome the opportunity to continue to care for this association I love so much. I would be
honored to serve as your next President-Elect! Thank you!
PRESIDENT-ELECT
BEN WICKER
GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY
SEAHO friends, I am honored to have been nominated as SEAHO PresidentElect.
I appreciate those who recognize my love for SEAHO, and who humble
me by nominating me to serve our Association in this role. Let me also say that
it is sobering to run alongside my amazing friends and colleagues and that
SEAHO will be in a great position regardless of the election results. I do love
SEAHO, all that it stands for, and all of the amazing people who have become
my friends and family throughout the entirety of my professional career over
the past 18 years. I wholeheartedly believe that there is no better place to work
in housing and residence life than in the SEAHO region, and I will champion
that thought from the Atlantic and Gulf coasts to the banks of the Mississippi
and from the top of the Appalachians to the low-lying bayous.
I have seen SEAHO grow in esteem and involvement - taking its place as a leading region within our
profession. I have seen our colleagues lead in weathering all of the challenges our field has faced - from the
tragedies at Virginia Tech to the upheaval of the COVID-19 pandemic. SEAHO has proven to be an invaluable
foundation and resource for our careers, and the executive leadership of the Association has led the way
through it all.
One of the fundamental SEAHO 'truths' I have always championed is that SEAHO is so much more than a
conference. Don't get me wrong, the annual conference is an integral part of our culture but putting on a
conference is neither our primary mission nor vision. I still aspire for SEAHO to be the 'leading resource for
the higher education housing industry' by 'promoting best practices, networking, professional development,
and involvement opportunities.' I believe I can help to continue the tremendous work of current and past
executive leadership and advance SEAHO's mission, vision, and values in a way that will inspire growth,
involvement, commitment, and a renewed passion for the association and the work we all do.
To accomplish my goals, outlined below, I would begin working immediately to establish objectives and
