March was busy with interviews and midterms, so we hosted a relaxed event celebrating individuals with
disabilities in reality television. In this event, Champions for Disabilities focused on highlighting the challenges
of having a disability while performing for television cameras, showcasing accomplishments, and being a
guide for those with similar disabilities. This event aimed at inspiring student staff with disabilities in the
representation gained from various platforms, specifically relating to reality television.
Finally, a Housing must-have is ending the year with a celebration! This final celebration would showcase
people with disabilities throughout history. In order to create the showcase, the executive board and general
body members worked together to create block posters of influential individuals with hidden and visible
disabilities with their accomplishments written out similar to a museum. Posters included the picture of the
figure, general information on them, the disability that impacted them and accomplishments in their field. On
the day of the event, the CD members hung the posters and invited peers to tour the showcase and share
which individual they liked learning more about as well as time talking with peers about the accomplishments
of the various individuals in the space!
