Presidential Recognition Initiatives
The Presidential Recognition initiatives that were mentioned during SEAHO 2024 and previous
communications are now ready. The Brick Recognition initiative, designed to recognize SEAHO members who
are building towards SEAHO's future success and sustaining its current prowess, will be represented by a nifty
pin depicting a building brick and the SEAHO logo. The Oh Yeah! Recognition initiative, intended to show
that one has demonstrated an enthusiasm and support for the spirit exemplified by SEAHO, will be rewarded
with a pitcher-shaped decal for you to proudly display on your water bottle, laptop, or wherever you choose.
You can nominate yourself or a colleague for either or both of these recognition items by using the form on
the SEAHO website.
Treasurer's Trove
Hello SEAHO! I am excited to bring to you our first entry in an effort to inform our membership about our
association finances outside of our association business meetings. The finances of our association play a role
in providing what SEAHO needs to operate each year, how we can sustain for the future, and what other
initiatives and projects we can pursue for the association.
I wanted to start our education on SEAHO finances by highlighting our SEAHO funds and how they operate.
All of these funds are connected in various ways, so an understanding of those relationships can help all of us
understand how the association operates. As we begin talking about SEAHO funds, I do want to highlight our
Fiscal Values Statement found in SEAHO's governing documents:
" Association funds shall be maintained in a manner that will serve to protect and preserve the integrity and
financial stability of the Association and shall be used only in cases where expenditures implement the general
objective, mission, and purpose of the Association. Additionally, association funds may be used to defray the
normal operating expenses of the Association. "
Currently, SEAHO has three funds; one of which has two accounts. They are the Administrative Fund, the
Reserve Fund, and the Southern Placement Exchange (SPE) Fund. We also have endowment funds, the
Legacy Fund and the Dr. Paul and Diane Jahr Endowment, but those will be covered in our next entry.
