SEAHO Report - Summer 2024 - 8
The first fund is the Administrative Fund, which is split between SEAHO's two main checking accounts: the
Operating account and the Conference Account. These two accounts are tied very closely to each other when
creating association budgets. SEAHO's revenue mainly comes from registrations for our annual conference
from our members and corporate partners. Our governing documents outline specific amounts of funds that
are returned to SEAHO from the annual conference revenue which funds the annual operating budget. If there
are any additional funds from the annual conference after all expenses have been paid, those funds also are
returned to SEAHO. Any funds that are not spent from the yearly operating budget stay with the association
to be used on future goals and initiatives.
The Reserve Fund is the association's savings account and held as such with our bank. According to our
governing documents, this fund must keep a balance of twice the average of our Operating Account for the
past three years. The rationale for keeping the balance at this level is to ensure continued operation of the
association. There is a Reserve Fund Committee composed of past conference coordinators and association
Presidents. This committee oversees the expenditures from this fund and ensures there is a plan to replenish
the fund if it falls below its target balance.
Our final fund is the SPE Fund that is held in another checking account for the association. SPE was a
placement conference for the south with employers and candidates looking for positions. When SPE
dissolved, as one of the supporting associations, SEAHO retained some funds from SPE's account. This fund is
monitored by the SEAHO Budget Review Committee and any expenditures from this fund would be approved
through this group. The committee is currently identifying some initiatives where this fund can be utilized for
the association.
I am looking forward to sharing more about SEAHO's finances in future SEAHO Reports, but if you are
interested in learning more or have questions about these association funds, please feel free to reach out
to me at tresurer@seaho.org. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer before we get ready for the next
academic year!

Annual Conference Program Proposal Submission
Every year, hundreds of our colleagues from around the region look forward to reuniting with their SEAHO
family at the annual conference. We also look forward to learning from our colleagues' experiences during
the programming sessions so that we can take new ideas back to our home campuses. Program sessions are
critical to our conference experience as they give colleagues of all levels of experience an opportunity to give
back to our region. The good news for you: the program proposal submission has just opened up for SEAHO
2025!
This year, SEAHO will be traveling to Huntsville, Alabama from February 24 through February 28, 2025 and
submitting a program proposal is one way we all can contribute to making sure it is a great conference! The
program proposal form opened on June 10th and we will be accepting program proposals through
11:59 PM on September 8th, 2024. Conference program sessions typically occur in one of two formats:
* Program Interest sessions are typically presentation-focused sessions where the presenter shares
information and resources with those in attendance.
* Roundtable sessions are where the focus is more on presenters facilitating a conversation among
the participants around a specific topic.
