SEAHO Report - Winter 2024 - 10

My goals would be:
* Work to create, with other SEAHO officers, methods for strong communication association
information
* Contribute to the completion of the strategic plan and the creation of a new strategic plan
I know I will need to collaborate with the officers of the executive board and governing council to achieve
these goals. I view this position as a supportive role to the other officers and governing council and
collaborative support is the type of work I thrive in doing.
I have always enjoyed working collaboratively with old friends and new colleagues. I value partnerships and to
me, the strength of SEAHO is in the people who serve and their willingness to partner with others to reach all
our member schools. I believe my experiences in service to SEAHO have prepared me for this role.
Meghan Luzader
Hello SEAHO Family! For those whom I have not yet had the
honor of meeting, my name is Meghan Luzader and it is with great
enthusiasm that I share with you why I am interested in serving as
the SEAHO Secretary. Since I attended my first SEAHO conference
in Atlanta in 2013, I knew SEAHO would long hold the place in my
heart as my professional home. Over the years, I have worked hard
to give back to an organization that has given much to me. I see
the opportunity to become SEAHO's next Secretary as a new way
to invest in the long-term success of our organization.
My SEAHO involvement thus far has included the following:
* Membership and subsequent Chair of the Graduate Issues
and Involvement Committee
* Membership on the Awards and Recognition Committee
* Volunteers Co-Chair for the SEAHO 2020 Annual
Conference
* Logistics Chair for the SEAHO 2023 Annual Conference
In addition to these roles, I have also sought to give back to
SEAHO through presentations at our annual conferences and
participation in the various mentorship programs. As I reflect
on key ways in which I have learned about the operational
underpinnings of our professional organizations, I would be remiss
if I didn't mention the unique opportunity I had to help create the
Socioeconomic and Class Issues in Higher Education Knowledge Community for NASPA, where I served as a
Founding Member and the Vice Chair from 2013-2016. The opportunity to create a Knowledge Community
within NASPA spawned from a presentation originally facilitated with a colleague at SEAHO that blossomed
into some incredible work of like-minded colleagues across the country. Much like the SEAHO Secretary
role, as the Vice Chair, some of my responsibilities included serving as the record keeper, disseminating
information publicly, and building and keeping group structure and cohesion.
Of all of my professional involvement roles, it is my work with the SEAHO 2023 Annual Conference that I
believe has best prepared me for the SEAHO Secretary role. In my role as the Logistics Chair, my position was
expected to manage the cross-sections of planning for all events, activities, and sessions for the conference.
While I did not plan all of these facets of the conference, my role was to work collaboratively with the folks
planning each piece to ensure needs were met from the Host Team and from the specific event coordinator's
perspective. I also oversaw all record retention and development, including the master schedule, meeting
minutes, and the final Conference Report. In addition to my role as the Logistics Chair, for a number of
months I supported the Conference Chair in stepping in as her proxy. My role with this involved ensuring the
