ACVPR constantly
looks to recognize
individuals, programs,
and organizations that
strive for excellence.
No other award exemplifies this
like the Annual Outstanding Affiliate
Award, provided to the local/
regional association that outshines
all others in its programming,
resource development, and
promotion of cardiac and
pulmonary rehabilitation bestpractices. The Outstanding Affiliate
showcases an organization
that challenges itself to develop
meaningful benefits for the
members and professionals
that it serves on a local level.
Applicants are reviewed by
the Membership & Affiliate
Relations Committee's Awards
Subcommittee, and applications
are scored on factors such as
member resource development,
promotion of leadership
development, and advancement
of best-practice through program
and professional certification.
This year's Outstanding Affiliate
Award winner is the Iowa
Association of Cardiopulmonary
Rehabilitation (IACPR). IACPR
has developed a stable of truly

beneficial member resources for its
cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation
professionals in Iowa. More so,
IACPR has committed itself to
promoting certified programs, both
CR and PR, and has provided
avenues for its members and nonmember professionals to become
CCRP-certified. IACPR has also
developed a wide-spread member
recruitment program that has
allowed the association to engage
with new members from the
moment they join and retain them
for the duration of their careers.
More importantly, IACPR has
developed a long-term success
plan for the association. IACPR has
distinguished itself for its dedication
to developing and adapting
a robust strategic plan and
promoting an environment where
future leaders are able to become
involved, and stay involved, through
committee and volunteer work,
advocacy, and mentoring. IACPR is
committed to reviewing its Strategic
Plan on a quarterly basis, and
reviewing the organization's Mission
Statement, IACPR Bylaws and
Policies every three years. Members
are annually invited to serve the
organization in a number of ways

and time. Future leaders are actively
sought through positions held for
students or academic fellows.
The organization also routinely
funds volunteers interested in
attending AACVPR's annual Day
on the Hill (DOTH) advocacy day in
Washington D.C. These programs
ensure the affiliates' prosperity and
longevity.
AACVPR is proud to recognize
the Iowa Association of
Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
(IACPR) as the 2016 Outstanding
Affiliate Award recipient. IACPR will
be recognized during the Friday
morning General Session at the
AACVPR 31st Annual Meeting
being held September 7-10,
2016 in New Orleans. The annual
recipient of the Outstanding Award
also receives a $500 award to be
used at the Affiliate's discretion. 
