TRANSPORTATION AND CONSTRUCTION GROUP SCOA and Nippon Sharyo Mark Milestone of 1000th Rail Car Produced Ceremony Held at Rochelle Factory to Show Appreciation to Customers and Employees; Success Credited To Expertise, Dedication and Local Commitment Rochelle A lthough a picture is worth a thousand words, sometimes a contract is worth a thousand cars. On March 17th, 2015, Sumitomo Corporation of Americas (SCOA) and Nippon Sharyo USA (Nippon Sharyo) celebrated contract fulfillment for manufacturing 1000 rail cars for public transit agency customers throughout North America. ILLINOIS In recognition of this momentous milestone, the longtime SCOA/Nippon Sharyo partnership hosted a special ceremony, attended by former SCOA General Manager of Machinery and Power Takeshi Murata, guest speakers, customers and employees at its Rochelle, Illinois facility. The celebration also honored SCOA and Nippon Sharyo's local employees, 600 of which have been hired and trained at the Rochelle facility since the opening in July of 2012. "This latest milestone illustrates SCOA's history and future as a trusted and proven provider of quality passenger transportation systems in North America," said Murata. "Our team is proud to partner with Nippon Sharyo and to deliver the state-of-the-art passenger railcar equipment needed to address the increasing demand for efficient and convenient passenger rail service throughout North America."
