NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS.

A RANGE OF DISCIPLINES. EXTRAORDINARY POSSIBILITIES.

A QUALITY START ON A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE.

SUNY’s University Centers and Doctoral Degree Granting Institutions have made undergraduate teaching, research, and advanced graduate and professional studies their priorities. They offer a number of programs and specializations leading to bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. Undergraduate enrollments range from under 1,000 to over 19,000 students. The University Centers and Doctoral Degree Granting Institutions offer hundreds of outstanding academic programs including liberal arts and sciences, health sciences, engineering, business, and preprofessional curriculum. Check out distinctive programs in pharmacy, architecture, nanoscience, interdisciplinary studies, environmental studies, and landscape architecture. All are research institutions. Several campuses offer undergraduate honors programs that provide students with small classroom settings within the larger university, fostering oneon-one relationships with faculty renowned both nationally and internationally. Many undergraduate students work on research projects with senior faculty, playing key roles in uncovering new knowledge. Explore SUNY’s University Centers and Doctoral Degree Granting Institutions on pages 3-7 or online at www.suny.edu/student.

SUNY’s 13 University Colleges are recognized throughout the country as leaders in undergraduate instruction. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees are offered in liberal arts and sciences, and professional disciplines. These 13 campuses are found mostly in small cities and towns. Together the University Colleges offer some 973 baccalaureate and 350 master’s programs, including disciplines from accounting to zoology. Undergraduate enrollments range from 3,500 to over 9,000. Our nontraditional college, Empire State, enrolls working adults through extension centers throughout New York State. Faculty and staff at SUNY’s University Colleges are dedicated to student success. Honors programs, opportunities for independent study and research, internships, and study abroad are ways students pursue unique undergraduate experiences. From engineering to agriculture to naval architecture, these eight campuses offer hands-on education and cutting-edge technologies. The programs they offer include business and computer science, hospitality management, auto trades, construction, manufacturing and industrial and health and medical technologies. At the Technology Colleges you’ll find certificate programs, associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in engineering, science and technology and numerous vocationaltechnical offerings that emphasize practical learning. Currently, their undergraduate enrollments range from 1,500 to over 6,000. Students enrolled at the Technology Colleges learn by doing. State-ofthe-art facilities, the latest equipment, internships, and on-the-job training give students the hands-on experience employers look for. In addition to excellent academic programs, the Technology Colleges take great pride in the support that they offer students. Each campus offers learning opportunities in a student-centered environment that prepares students for employment or transfer. SUNY’s Community Colleges, indi vidually and as a system, are leaders in higher education in New York State and in the nation. They are highly effective in responding to the educational needs of all people and the local, state, and global communities to which they belong. There are 30 Community Colleges in the SUNY system, enrolling more than 242,000 full-time and part-time students. Each Community College provides open access to educational programs and services offered to the entire population of New York State. Their broad mission includes providing excellent transfer and career education, and degree programs, supported by comprehensive student services. A number of our Community Colleges offer residential living, and several have campuses in more than one location. Students often benefit from smaller class sizes and the opportunity to explore different interests during their first two years of college. Classes are offered at various times to allow students flexibility in meeting their individual needs. Credits transfer anywhere. More than half of our graduates transfer to four-year colleges and universities. These credits are accepted by both SUNY schools and private institutions. Learn more about SUNY’s Community Colleges on pages 15-24 or by checking them out online at www.suny.edu/student.
