Class of 2014
Public Policy Major

Kim, a first-generation college
student and only child of Colombian
immigrants, will smoothly transition
to graduate studies through a
combined BA/MPA program. Undergraduate teaching, research, and
advanced and professional studies
are top priorities for University
Centers and Doctoral Degree
Granting Institutions. And, Kim's
school is no exception. Her graduate
program focuses on building skills
needed to manage public and nonprofit organizations and create
sound public policy. It is a perfect
fit for Kim as her career goal is to
work for the Department of State
in Washington, D.C.
As a SUNY Chancellor's Award for
Student Excellence recipient, Kim
has also excelled outside of the
classroom. She rolled-up her sleeves
to help Habitat for Humanity, handled
24/7 responsibilities as a resident
assistant, and was active in the
Association of Latino Professionals
in Finance and Accounting and
Omicron Delta Kappa-a national
leadership honors society.
In the future, Kim predicts playing
a role in developing policies to
strengthen the bonds between the
U.S. and Latin America.
