at’s Th By MICHAEL FORTUNA Villages performers take a stunning review of the silver screen’s biggest hits. Under the direction of Debra Heath-Strickland, the group made up of various resident dance and twirling groups will put on “That’s Hollywood” at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at Savannah Center. Tickets for the show are $16 for Villages residents and $21 for the public, and are available at any Villages Box Office location or online at thevillages.net/boxoffice. “That’s Hollywood” will take the audience on a trip through some of the biggest tunes to be heard on the silver screen, including such films as “Titanic,” “Dirty Dancing,” “Pretty Woman,” “Shrek,” “Footloose,” “The Blues Brothers,” “Singin’ in the Rain” and “Ziegfeld Follies.” The opening number, “Hooray for Hollywood,” takes place on a movie studio backlot. Smaller groups include Aloha O’Ka Hula Dance Troope, Dance Fusion, Diamond Dazzlers, Diamond Productions, the Dorells, Just Dance, Me and My Gang, Patti’s Crew, the Questar JANUARY 2012 Back in May Questar Back in May, Questar ack May, s star pa d tribute paid tribute to Broadway. paid t bute to Broadway. bu e ad performance, For its next performance, or ext per ext pe the singers and dancers th si the singers and dancers nd ancers n are h d west to heading di the audience through Hollywood. The proceeds from this year’s show will go to Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis, which was founded by Paul Newman and retired Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf. “It’s a camp for kids in Florida with chronic illnesses,” said Heath-Strickland, who lives in the Village of Hadley. “This is a wonderful cause.” For Questar’s last performance in May, “That’s Broadway,” Questar raised enough money to fund five scholarships to the Lt. Dan Thomas Malcom Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of one of Heath-Strickland’s former students who was killed in Iraq. http://www.thevillages.net/boxoffice
