He shares his recommendations for year-round fun in North Lake Tahoe. Rosie's Cafe 259 Za's Lakefront " Down on the lake, Za's is a nice place for families with simple, casual food like pizzas and salads. There's an outdoor deck, Lakeside Trail is there, and the pier is right in front of you, so your kids won't be bored. " 260 Alpenglow Sports " It's a real staple for the area. It stays seasonal so they will emphasize winter stuff and then summer when the seasons change. The staff is very knowledgeable and they'll tell you everything about hiking trails and help you fi nd boots. " 261 Louie and Pip " There's a new little store called Louis and Pip that's great for clothing and gifts. I go there to buy gifts for my daughter or my wife. It's in a Swiss-style shopping center right in the middle of town. " 262 Rosie's Café " Rosie's is a breakfast/lunch place that has a small bar not many people know about. You'll see a lot of restaurant employees rub shoulders there after work. That's your place to meet for a nightcap before you go home. We call that an after-shifter. " 263 Tahoe State Recreation Area " We go here once a year- at least. The camping is fantastic and well-managed with all the amenities you need like fi re pits and beaches. You'll have neighbors in the summer, but if you like to be more alone, pick the shoulder season. " 264Pete 'n Peter's " It's a total locals' bar and it's been here ever since I got here-at least 40 years. It's just pool tables with a bar in the middle and lots of friendly people of all ages.
