More than 400 Tree Farmers and forestry professionals from 36 states France, and Canada gathered in Burlington, Vermont, from July 13 to 15 to enjoy the 2010 Annual National Tree Farmer Convention.
It was a rare opportunity to share knowledge and take pleasure in the company of people with one common concern: the future of the family Tree Farm. And the focus was on the family, with the introduction of a new youth program and a celebration of family reunions. Several families brought three generations, and one family — Des and Marilyn Jones of Michigan — gathered four generations! During the 17th annual event Tree Farmers also had a chance to catch up with old acquaintances and make new friends, including the more than 140 first-time convention attendees. They all heard updates on the latest issues and trends affecting forestry and learned a range of valuable information to bring back home to their woodlots. The following stories and photographs are a sampling of the energy and enthusiasm we found during the convention. As you look through them we hope they inspire you to join us next year, when we gather in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, August 9 to 11. Hope to see you there!
