Approval of 2021 Minutes: A motion to amend as follows was
approved and seconded:
1. Peter Kennedy (Africa Affiliate) should be listed as a Visitor/
Guest.
2. Meeting adjourned should read 11:03 a.m. (U.S. Eastern
Time).
Report from Affiliate Chairperson: Wendy White provided the
following updates:
1. Acknowledgment of 2021 milestone Affiliate anniversaries
(responses from attendees):
a. Georgia Association for Food Protection - 40 years.
b. California Association for Food Protection is now
official.

c. Ontario Association for Food Protection - 65 years.
d. Indian Association for Food Protection in North America -
held the highest number of talks in India during the past year.
e. African Continental Association for Food Protection - membership
grew by almost 70% and their first Annual Meeting
was very successful. Peter Kennedy added that this inaugural
event had 40 countries represented.
Report from IAFP President: Ruth Petran, IAFP President,
gave the IAFP Board update. She talked about this year's Annual
Meeting being approximately 80% attendance from 2019, with
80% of exhibitors attending. The Association is making progress
and working toward our new normal. She encouraged visiting the
exhibitors as they are an important part of the IAFP family who
need our support. Explore the Floor is back this year as is the
Exhibitors Showcase. Giant Eagle was huge with helping with
local arrangements and putting conference bags together. Ruth
asked that we work with the PDGs on recommendations, which
are due by Thursday morning. She also asked that Members
monitor IAFP Connect because that is how PDGs communicate.
As you are thinking about your Affiliate programs, think about
DEI. Webinars are free to all members, so please consider holding
one. The Foundation has a goal of $4 million for its 40th anniversary.
This will help allow more to attend our Annual Meeting.
Ruth also spoke about the transition of JFP to Elsevier, allowing
for more people to get information in an open access format.
Questions about this can be answered by representatives at the
JFP booth in the Exhibit Hall. Next year's meeting is in Toronto,
and Ruth reminded attendees to update their passports.
Report from IAFP Executive Director: David Tharp reported
that approximately 3,000 attendees are at IAFP 2022. Last year's
meeting was a hybrid, with some kinks in the process. This year
it is exciting to see people in person. Sessions where presenters
have agreed are being recorded, and the content will be available
for attendees; those who couldn't attend can purchase. In 2021,
all committee meetings were held virtually, with this year's meetings
back to in person. Our international meetings are continuing
well such as the first African meeting, along with Chile, Argentina,
Dubai, and China. Dubai and China will be held again later this
year, as well as Turkey and Latin America. IAFP is continuing to
do well, with David thanking the attendees.
Report from IAFP Staff Liaison: Susan Smith reported 43
of 55 active Affiliates (78%) had filed their 2021 Annual Reports,
but all Affiliates need to submit an Annual Report as stated by
IAFP Bylaws. All Reports are to be submitted electronically as
one email if possible. Member lists are no longer required to help
save time. She encouraged Affiliates to apply for one or more
awards. This year, 14 Affiliates applied, an increase over last
year. We had several Affiliates receiving awards for the first time
so know that your hard work can pay off. 2021 Affiliate Annual
Reports will be posted on the IAFP website in a few weeks.
There were no issues in submitting for 2021 activities. Websites
are relied upon for important information, so please keep them
updated and active. Affiliates were reminded to take advantage of
IAFP's Executive Board Speaker Program for an affordable and
informative speaker for upcoming meetings, whether in person or
virtually. If Affiliates collect dues through IAFP, update us with any
changes in amounts. No new charters were established since the
2020 Affiliate Council Meeting. If interested in establishing one,
let us know.
