DENVER AREA ARTISTS TEAM UP TO BETTER THE WORLD THROUGH
ALL TYPES OF ARTISTIC EXPRESSION.
Several entities were involved in making the
first-ever Colfax Canvas a success, including
the Black Actors Guild, which was established
by five inspiring African-American high school
students in 2009. The students' primary goal
was producing intelligent, engaging entertainment that encompasses theater and all art
forms in general. The organization soon provided a platform for artists of color and grew to
encompass actors, artists, dancers, musicians,
and poets. 
Fast forward to today. The company specializes
not only in the promotion of independent
artists in the Denver metropolitan area but
also provides activation, production, and
progressive art-integrated programs for local
schools. A majority of Black Actors Guild's
projects take place in Denver's Atlas Theater,
but they also are important partners for The
People's Building and Colfax Canvas in Aurora
and have worked alongside Shadow Theatre

improvisation, or script-writing, we see it as
our duty to use those mediums to create a
better world. "
