Colfax Canvas
Launched in 2020, this annual mural festival
assembles talented artists from around
the Denver metro area and provides further
visual definition to the borders of the ACAD.
The 29 Colfax Canvas murals are located at
strategic points and add color and energy to
an already vibrant neighborhood featuring
a mix of shops, eateries, breweries, salons,
visual and performing arts organizations,
and other businesses.
COLFAX CANVAS BY JUST GIOVANNIE
Colfax Canvas also is a celebration of music
and food during the event, which is typically
in September. Even if you can't make this
year's celebration in person, take a selfguided
walking or driving tour at any time
utilizing the Colfax Canvas map and listen to
audio descriptions found at
colfaxcanvas.com.
A CULTURAL
ETHOS
The arts are deeply woven into Aurora's multilayered fabric, leading to the
establishment of the Aurora Cultural Arts District (ACAD) in 2009 to connect
the community through art and collaboration. This vibrant, 16-block area
is located along the historic commercial corridor from Clinton to Geneva
streets on East Colfax Avenue and features galleries, arts venues, and a

Aurora Fox Arts Center
Starting as a " movie palace " in 1946,
Aurora's city-owned performing arts
center has a rich history of delivering
diverse, entertaining, and relevant stories
to the facility's two stages. With a classic
neon sign on the exterior, The Fox is a
staple in ACAD and an excellent stop for
an evening show or afternoon matinee.
Aurora Fox Theatre Company brings several
productions to life every season. Here's
a sampling of what's on the 2023 season
lineup: " Acts of Faith, " " The Year of Magical
Thinking, " " Toni Stone, " and " Treasure

The People's Building
Also operated by the city of Aurora, The
People's Building is a performance and
event space in the heart of ACAD. It's a place
where artists of all disciplines can explore,
educate, and perform and a beautiful space
for meetings and social gatherings. Expect
high-quality music, dance, theatre, fine
art, and events that inspire and reflect the
