SMG Valve Regulated Lead Acid Battery
FIAMM Energy LLC is expanding its North America
telecommunication product offering with the introduction of
the SMG battery. The SMG product series has been a part of
FIAMM's European telecom and utility offering for the last 20 years. SMG
is a valve regulated lead acid battery using OPzV or tubular plate gel
technology. The gel technology offers
improved performance in the battery
compared to products that use absorbed glass mat (AGM) technology
in elevated temperatures and environments with difficult conditions.
"FIAMM Energy has been working with our telecommunications customers to come up with an improved
solution for their challenging outside
plant applications and the SMG is one
of the answers," said John Kleba, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing for FIAMM in North America.
"For many years telecommunications
companies in the US have depended on AGM batteries in their
outside plants but they have experienced shortened life performance in high temperature environments. The gel technology of
the SMG offers another potential solution to extending battery
life and improving performance in these harsh environments."
Initially FIAMM Energy will offer the 380 and 720 amp-hour
cells of the two volt SMG battery series. For installation the cells
will be provided in stackable steel modules that will have Seismic
Zone 4 certification. The modules will be available in several rack
configurations to accommodate different footprints.

the life of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active by 2.12 times delivering more power than the stock 2,600 mAh battery. This battery
performance allows consumers, especially those who are often
on the move, to use the device longer. The battery is fully compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and fits well into
Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.
As well as delivering longer life, the new battery is also reliable. Like other Mugen batteries, the Mugen 5,500 mAh extended
battery for Samsung Galaxy S4 Active has undergone vigorous
QA testing to ensure the highest quality and lowest return rate.
The battery is also in compliance with the CE requirements.

Business Travel
Poweradd has released a high capacity portable external battery, Poweradd Pilot Pro, to its global customers. The Poweradd
Pilot Pro has a capacity of 32,000
mAh, which is well suited for business people. This portable external
battery is compatible with most
smartphones, laptops and notebooks on the market.
With the adjustable voltages (5
V/9 V/12 V/16 V/19 V/20 V), Poweradd Pilot Pro can meet various
needs for different device models.
It has built-in LED indicators that
can identify power capacity.
UltraPower Stealth Battery Backup System for the
Traffic Industry
Blue Earth Energy Power Solutions (BEEPS), a division of
Blue Earth, Inc., now offers a lead-acid free battery backup system (BBS) for the traffic industry called the UltraPower Stealth
Battery Backup System (UPStealth).
The UPStealth, designed to run traffic intersections in the
event of utility power failure, is a BBS that utilizes Nickel
Zinc. Departments of Transportation and City Agencies face
many challenges with current lead-acid BBS: heavy, corrosive/
hazmat issues, lack
of reliability and
ongoing maintenance requirements.
The UPStealth was
designed and created by BEEPS to
address the frustrations, challenges and
unpredictable budget impact agencies
are exposed to with
lead-acid systems.
The UPStealth's design allows for installation of the battery
panel in the primary traffic cabinet between the cabinet rack and
cabinet shell. This design makes for quick and easy installation,
typically in less than one hour. Fitting inside of nearly all types
of primary traffic cabinets, the UPStealth eliminates the need for
Piggyback or Stand-alone cabinets. Providing more energy in
less space, the UPStealth is approximately 70 percent lighter in
weight than typical lead-acid BBS.
The UPStealth battery design has built in chargers/monitor
boards that provide four hour recharge times, regardless of how
many battery packs are connected. The UPStealth generates
little to no heat, which correlates to maximum energy performance. In addition, the NiZn chemistry utilized by the UPStealth is 100 percent recyclable and RoHS compliant.
