Bud Releases Plastic Enclosure for KL25Z
Freescale Freedom Development Platform
Bud Industries is continuing its focus on developing
plastic enclosures for popular programming boards by
introducing its FBB-3665
enclosure designed for the
model KL25Z Freescale
Freedom Development
Platform. Bud’s enclosure
is friendly to a prototyping
environment while providing protection and functionality. The
development board slips into place, secured in the enclosure by a
snug fit rather than by potentially damaging hardware.
The enclosure has a removable top so the board can be extracted without disassembling cables. Cutouts in the FBB series enclosure’s front panel allow for connection to the board’s two USB ports
and provide access to the reset button. The rear panel has round
knock-out plugs that can accommodate Bud’s optional NG9511
miniature cable gland or be used for ventilation. The enclosure has
a side slot on each side to accommodate flat cables from both I/O
header banks and to provide additional ventilation.
The FBB-3665 enclosure has four pieces (top, bottom, front
and rear panels) that can be rapidly assembled. What’s more, the
rubber feet included with the development board can be removed and attached to the bottom of the enclosure, covering up
the screw holes and creating a stable working position. External
dimensions are 3.62 by 2.6 by 1.10 inches.
The Freedom Development Platform is designed for developers
working with Freescale’s Kinetis microcontrollers. It is capable of
working with other development boards such as the Arduino Uno
and microcomputers computers such as the Raspberry Pi.
New Tablet Format Enclosure for Portable
Controllers and Instruments
Designed for portable applications
where touch screens and electromechanical controllers such as joysticks
and rollerballs are used, the 1599 Tablet
enclosure from Hammond Manufacturing features a low profile rounded
ergonomic design, which fits comfortably into the hand to prevent operator
fatigue during extended periods of use.
Available as standard in RAL9011 black
and RAL 7035 grey, the unit is moulded
in UL94V-0 flame retardant ABS. It is
sealed to IP54, giving protection against
the ingress of dust or water, it has a machined removable panel
for connectors, external power leads and switches and is available
with or without a battery compartment.
The 1599 Tablet measures 9.45 by 7.48 by 1.18 inches, with 10
PCB standoffs moulded into both the top and base sections to
give a number of different mounting positions for circuit boards
and other components. The top has a 0.03 inch inlay recess across
the entire surface of the unit for mounting membrane keyboards
if required. A removable panel, positioned on one side of the
enclosure, is available in ABS or, optionally for remote control use,
in IR translucent polycarbonate.
The enclosure is assembled with six machine screws, threaded
into integral brass bushes in the top section, ensuring that if repet18
itive assembly and disassembly are required the sealing integrity of
the unit is not compromised over time. The battery compartment
accepts four AA or two 9 V batteries.
One Stop Systems Introduces the nanoCUBE
Desktop Expansion Enclosure
One Stop Systems, Inc. (OSS) has
introduced the nanoCUBE expansion
enclosure with Thunderbolt or PCIe
expansion. The nanoCUBE supports a
single PCIe x8 Gen3 short card, allowing users to add greater functionality to
laptops or workstations. This lightweight
appliance is designed as a companion
to PCs or workstations that need to add a special IO card, when
there’s no room.
“The nanoCUBE offers the smallest size and greatest portability
of any of The CUBE family products,” said Steve Cooper, CEO, OSS.
“It can be connected to your computer through Thunderbolt or
PCIe expansion. Using a PCIe x8 connection to your host computer, the nanoCUBE supports a single PCIe x8 Gen3 board. This
allows the user to install the latest x8 short card like a Flash card
and have a fast storage device ready to use with your laptop.”
New Soft-Touch T-Shape Hand-Held Enclosures
From Teko
Teko has launched the TekNet-T enclosures, which have been designed for
hand-held electronics with large displays.
Typical applications include in-field test and
measurement instruments, medical devices
and data loggers.
The TekNet-T enclosures are stylish and
ergonomic. The cases feature a T-shaped
head section which has been designed
for mounting larger LCD modules, and
a narrower keypad area which is very
comfortable to hold. The whole top section is recessed to allow
easy mounting of a membrane keypad which may also include an
integrated window for the display module.
The TekNer-T cases have external dimensions of 8.19 by 4.60 by
1.18 inches and feature soft-touch edge grips for secure and comfortable holding during use. The edge grips also provide protection for the case moldings. The cases are manufactured using dual
shot molding technology, which combines white or black ABS with
‘soft-touch’ TPU elastomer in contrasting light or dark gray.
Pixus Technologies Offers Subrack Enclosure
Family in EMC, Compact and Mobile Styles
Pixus Technologies offers Eurocard
subracks for 3U and 6U boards in
multiple configurations. The subrack
enclosures can house backplanes or
special modules for industrial, mil/
aero, communications, medical, energy and test/measurement industries.
The Pixus subrack line features
a modular design, with extrusions
and tapped strips in standard intervals allowing a wide range of
configurations without customization. The EMC version features
gasketing and optional EMC covers. Compact versions of the
enclosures are available in 42 HP and 21 HP sizes standard. The
