Corrosion Resistant, All Plastic Cam Latch Meets
NEMA 4 and IP65 Standards
Southco, Inc. has expanded its
successful E5 Cam Latch series with
a plastic version. The redesigned
plastic E5 cam latch features an all
plastic, corrosion resistant design
that meets NEMA 4 and IP65 standards for water and dust protection, making it well suited for use in
highly corrosive environments.
The plastic E5 provides corrosion
resistance and non-conductive latching for industrial machinery, marine,
transportation and electrical enclosures. Like the standard E5 line,
the plastic version features a variety of grip lengths and is available
in numerous head style options for added security. Additionally,
the plastic E5 features the same panel hole prep as the standard
series and is available with pre-installed pawl options to minimize
installation time.
"With its all plastic design and improved corrosion resistance,
our newest E5 Cam Latch is a cost effective alternative for a wide
variety of applications, offering a highly modular and easy to configure solution for enclosure access," said global product manager
Loc Tieu.
New Mounting Plate Kits for MetCase Rack
Mount Enclosures
Mounting plate kits are now available
for MetCase's CombiMet range of 19
inch rack mount enclosures. CombiMet
is a range of vented, unvented and open
rack cases for networking and communications equipment, industrial computers,
sound and studio systems, laboratory
instruments and control technology.
The internal mounting plate kits enable
multiple PCBS to be installed in the rack
cases. They offer improved stability and,
on vented versions, added cooling.
Mounting plates are manufactured
from aluminum and are available in two sizes: 13.18 by 9.05 by
0.06 inches and 13.18 by 12.99 by 0.06 inches. Each kit includes
nine nylon screw pillars (M3 by 10 mm) and 10 screws (M3 x 6
mm CSK).
Each plate is pre-drilled with nine countersunk holes as standard. They can also be specified pre-drilled ready for components
and also CNC machined with ventilation holes to improve cooling
still further. Prices start at $23.
Other accessories include PCB mounting pillar kits and rack
mounting screw kits. CombiMet's distinctive handles (which come
as standard on the cases) can also be specified as accessories for
other MetCase and non-MetCase rack mount enclosures.
Reliable, Safe Operation in New Amphenol
Industrial Power Connectors
Amphenol Industrial Products Group has introduced a new generation of industrial power connectors for use in harsh industrial,
commercial, data center applications. The IP44 and IP67 rated
Amphe-309 provides safe and reliable portable electrical connections for the most extreme environments.
Designed for use on construction sites and in commercial and

agricultural installations as
well as in the lighting and
audio power industry, the
Amphe-309 has a current
rating from 16 A up to
125 A, and a maximum
operating voltage of 690
VAC or 250 VDC, with
low-voltage options as
well. These easily-recognizable and interchangeable devices feature a color-coded system
that matches amperage and voltage requirements, making them
suited for use in the field.
Used in extreme climates (both indoor and outdoor), these
devices are available in a variety of designs from a simple plug
to flexible customer-created combination units. Amphe-309 is
designed to withstand vibration, impact, dirt, moisture, corrosive
elements as well as wash-downs. ATEX certified options available.
Amphenol's Amphe-309 current range covers all clock positions
in use and offers low profile, watertight, heavy duty and ATEX solutions. Each connector features a positive locking feature to stop
accidental withdrawal or insertion of the pin while under load.
Certified by CE, UL, CSA and CCC, Amphe-309 can be used in
international and domestic markets. All components, from the
plugs and receptacles to the inlets, mechanical interlocks and
combination boxes, comply with the requirements of IEC 603 09-1
&2, EN 60 309-1 & 2, BS 4343-2 1992 , and UL 1682 & 1686.
Wieland Electric Adds New High Amperage
Inserts to revos Power Industrial Connector
Wieland Electric Inc. has
extended its offering of revos
Power hybrid contact inserts for
its family of rectangular connectors. Designed specifically for
the revos BASIC housings in sizes
16 and 24, the rugged contact
inserts are available with power
and control terminals in a variety
of combinations.
"These new hybrid contact inserts give machine and equipment design engineers maximum flexibility in combining power
and control connections in the proven revos BASIC rectangular
connectors," said Martin Lalonde, application engineer at Wieland
Electric. "Designed for industrial and heavy equipment applications, the rugged connector inserts feature captive screws and up
to 500 mating cycles."
The different contact configurations enable design engineers to
select 6, 8 or 12 power contacts for maximum currents of either
40A or 80A, and 2, 4, 12 or 36 control contacts for a maximum
current of 10 A. All contacts are rated for 600 V and wires ranging
in size from 26 to 4 AWG. The revos connectors are CSA and UL
certified, and suitable for type 4 / IP65 applications.
VadaTech Releases Two Virtex-7 FPGA Carriers
VadaTech has new Virtex-7 690T FPGA carriers in the AMC
format. VadaTech's Virtex-7 FPGA carriers utilize the 690T device
providing over 693K logic cells and 3600 DSP slices. The AMC516
has banks of 64-bit and 16-bit DDR3 memory and an on-board
P2040 PowerPC. The AMC527 is a similar Virtex-7 690T FPGA,
except it has three banks of 144 Mb QDR-II memory and does not
have a PowerPC. The FPGA carriers have a slot to accept an FPGA
Mezzanine Card (FMC) per VITA 57.
