Hardware Gore High Airflow Vent Delivers Twice the Airflow and Improved Flammability Resistance W. L. Gore & Associates has launched its next-generation PolyVent High Airflow, which advances the performance capabilities of Gore Protective Vents Screw-In series. Engineered to handle the large pressure differentials caused by extreme weather conditions, the Gore PolyVent High Airflow provides twice the airflow, with the same reliable ingress protection as Gore's prior generation of "HA" (High Airflow) vents. It also features an improved O-ring that is UL-rated for flammability resistance. For enclosures up to 50 liters, the Gore PolyVent High Airflow provides an advanced level of protection against the extreme conditions that can damage seals and outdoor electronics. "The new Gore PolyVent High Airflow delivers throughput of 4,000 ml/minute at 70 mbar pressure differential - basically double the airflow of our prior HA vent, which provided 2000 ml/minute," said Protective Vents' Global Product Manager Torsten Eifler. "It achieves that level of airflow while maintaining the same reliable ingress protection. The Gore PolyVent High Airflow meets IP66, IP67, IP68 (one hour immersion at 2 m) and IP69k (high-pressure steam) protection standards. The new vent also includes a specially-treated membrane that provides oleophobic as well as hydrophobic resistance." The new Gore PolyVent High Airflow also incorporates another technology upgrade: an enhanced O-ring formulation that is rated UL 94 V-0 for flammability resistance. "An O-ring's flammability-resistance may seem a small thing, but at Gore, it is an important safety issue," said Eifler. "Our vent caps and vent bodies already have earned UL 94 V-0 ratings. Bringing the O-ring up to that same performance level reflects Gore's commitment to technical leadership and ongoing product innovation. We strive to keep fine-tuning all components of our venting solutions, so they work optimally together and perform to the highest industry standards." The Gore PolyVent High Airflow is designed for screw-in installation, and is available in two colors: Black (product number PMF100585) and Grey (product number PMF100586). These vents incorporate distinct performance upgrades, yet they are engineered to the same sizes and manufactured to the same quality specifications as the prior-generation PolyVent HA products they will replace. PEM ReelFast Surface Mount Captive Panel Screws Install Precisely and Permanently PEM ReelFast surface mount spring-loaded captive panel screws (Type SMTPFLSM) from PennEngineering install precisely and permanently where designed on printed circuit boards to provide secure attachment and allow for subsequent access whenever necessary. These all-metal captive screw assemblies mount in one piece on boards using the pick-and-place method and will install in the same manner and at the same time as other surface mount components prior to the automated reflow solder process. The captive screw technology eliminates issues and risks associated with the handling, installing, and potential loosening of standard screws and can be easily actuated with the combination Torx/slot drive. PEM Type SMTPFLSM captive panel screws are supplied on tape and reel conforming to industry standards and are compatible with existing SMT automated installation equipment. A polyimide patch affixed to the end of the fastener allows for vacuum pickup. Unlike conventional fasteners, there is no requirement for secondary installation operations, which typically can damage boards and create scrap. An anti-cross thread feature serves to correct off-angle installations and prevent thread damage during the mounting process. The fasteners install reliably in boards of any hardness as thin as 0.063 inches/1.6 mm. They are available in thread sizes #4-40 through #6-32 and M3 through M3.5 and in multiple screw lengths. Depending on length, the captive screw is designed to retract flush in the up position. Compact Rotary Latch Features Dual Trigger Actuation Southco, Inc. has further expanded its successful line of rotary latching solutions with the launch of the R4-10 Rotary Latch with Dual Trigger. Southco's newest rotary latch features a compact design that provides multiple points of actuation, allowing the latch to be triggered by two independent actuators. Dual actuation points and its compact size make the R4-10 with Dual Trigger a solution for doors and panels that require actuation from multiple positions. For instance, the R4-10 with Dual Trigger facilitates access when entering or exiting an entry door, or when accessing a larger panel or piece of equipment from two separate points. As the smallest latch size available in the R4-10 series, the Dual Trigger model occupies minimal space within the enclosure, providing concealed latching and increased security.
