Ultra-Low Power Omnipolar Hall Effect Sensors from Diodes
Diodes, a manufacturer of application
specific standard products within the
broad discrete, logic, analog and mixedsignal semiconductor markets, recently
introduced AH1911/AH1921 digital
Hall effect sensors. According to the
company, they combine stable operating and release points with ultra-low
power operation. The third-generation
devices will respond to either polarity
of magnetic field and use a 'hibernating
clock' system to reduce average current
consumption to 1.6µA at 3V supply.
"These sensors, with their stable BOP/BRP and ultra-low power consumption provide
market-leading performance at the best cost/performance ratio," said Charles Kuo, worldwide sensor marketing manager for Diodes. A wide operating voltage range of 1.6V to
5.5V enables the part to be used with a variety of system voltages. Operating and release
points for the magnetic switch are tightly controlled over temperature and supply voltage
due to advanced stabilizing techniques for accurate and repeatable performance. Flux
density switching points are typically ±60 Gauss (6mT) to operate and ±45 Gauss (4.5mT)
to release.
They are intended for battery-powered devices where the low power consumption and
wider operating voltage range help to extend battery life. Typical applications include
medical and consumer products, tamper detection for e-meters, smoke detectors, IoT
devices and general level or proximity detection.

Eneflux-Armtek Magnetics Awarded IATF Certification
Eneflux-Armtek Magnetics, Inc. has received IATF 16949:2016 Certification following an
audit conducted by BSI Management Systems, a registrar company. EAM is one of the
first magnet manufacturers in the US to have received such certification, which supersedes the existing ISO/TS 16949:2009.
"As far as I know, we were the first domestic magnet manufacturer to be awarded ISO/TS
certification and now we believe we are the first once again to gain the IATF certification,"
said EAM President Tony Mantella in July, when the new certification was announced.
IATF 16949:2016 certification is a global technical specification and quality management
system that aligns existing quality standards within the world automotive industry and is
based on ISO 9001: 2016. It focuses on continuous improvement and specifies quality
system requirements for the design, development, and delivery of products. It emphasizes
defect prevention and reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.
Eneflux-Armtek Magnetics, EAM, is a manufacturer of magnets and magnetic assemblies
for automotive, industrial and consumer electronics manufacturers and other types of businesses.
