PRODUCT NEWS
At APEC, ITG Electronics Showcased its Rugged Design Mode Chokes and Immersion Cooling
Capabilities
ITG Electronics, a manufacturer of
inductors and transformers since
1963, showed off a broad array of
products at the Applied Power Electronics
Conference (APEC) held
in February. Among other items,
the company featured its range of
Rugged Design Common Mode
Chokes: the C301306H Series and
C301369H Series. Offering higher
voltage ratings and more robust
hipot Isolation between two windings, the products address increasing
demand for industrial, under-the-hood inverter applications.
Typical common mode chokes for power application are rated at
250 volts alternating current (VAC); ITG's new Rugged Design
versions offer an impressive 600VAC. Meanwhile, standard
common mode chokes offer hipot isolation of around 1500VAC,
while the C301306H and C301369H Series provides 2500VAC.
ITG also offers a special base design to enhance shaking and
vibration capabilities.
By meeting high power and high current requirements for electromagnetic
interference (EMI) noise suppression, the Rugged
Design Common Mode Chokes are ideal for higher power (high
current) motor control applications, HVAC systems, and converters
for electric cars and other industrial scenarios where reliability
and durability are paramount.
ITG produces millions of common mode chokes per month,
and ships hundreds of million each year to customers in a wide
variety of sectors.
ITG also emphasized its immersion cooling technologies. Immersion
cooling allows products to be dropped in a solution to help
cool products, such as ITG's power bead inductors, which are
commonly used in artificial intelligence-enabled (AI) applications.
The immersion cooling process helps the company's range of
power components stay cooler, and therefore operate at faster
processing speeds.
In developing the certification of its products, ITG considered
various product performance parameters to determine the optimal
chemical content for the immersion liquid. To ensure clarity
and consistency in the system's utilization, the company has
devised comprehensive guidelines regarding these special components'
design, and their recommended printed circuit board
assembly (PCBA) process.
Immersion cooling involves submerging a component in a nonconductive,
dielectric liquid, which then absorbs the component's
heat. Because of the liquid's temperature gradient, the heated
liquid - which is naturally less dense - rises to the top. As this occurs,
the liquid is removed from the top of the tank and replaced
with a cooler liquid from the bottom. Helpfully, immersion cooling
does not require additional elements such as fans, which among
other benefits improves energy efficiency.
