PulseTech Products Corp. is now providing consumers with a series of solar powered solutions to continually charge, maintain and extend the normal lifecycles of 12 V and 24 V batteries. The solar chargers are designed for any 12 V or 24 V battery and come in 2, 5, 6 and 25 watt versions. In addition to the trickle charging function that regularly provide power to batteries, PulseTech’s Pulse Technology cleans (desulfates) the plates and brings the battery to a like-new state capable of holding a full charge. The combination has proven to extend 12 V lead acid battery life up to three to five times what is typical. The 24 V version are designed to maintain batteries on equipment or vehicles left in long-term outside storage for weeks and even months. The 24 V solar products desulfate, charge, and maintain all types of generators and vehicles with 24-volt lead acid battery systems, including conventional flooded, AGM and VRLA types. All of PulseTech”s solar systems feature high efficiency, crystalline silicone cells that pack more power per square inch than standard amorphous thin film solar cells, and have a longer life. Typically, crystalline solar cells have a footprint that is 50 percent smaller than the common amorphous cells. This results in providing the power needed in a sturdier, smaller sized solar panel. Instead of a breakable glass coating, PulseTech’s solar panels are protected with a clear, polyurethane plastic coating mounted on a laminated aluminum substrate to make them virtually indestructible and impervious to weather, aging and damage from bumps and knocks. C&D Technologies, Inc. has released the UPS 12-745MRF product. The 12745MRF is the first in a series of batteries from C&D Technologies that is commonly known as the “4D” product. The emergence of the UPS 12-745MRF represents C&D Technologies’ recognition of the two major trends in the UPS industry, a total front-accessible battery and a trend towards higher capacity products. The UPS 12-745MRF is a UPS product suited for data centers, network centers, industrial process control, financial institutions, hospitals and laboratories and emergency response systems. The rugged and robust UPS 12-745MRF is supported by a 10-year design life. Rack and cabinetized systems are currently available that permit a total end-user solution.

Sustainable Energy Technologies Ltd. has released its proprietary AC battery technology to energy storage integrators in Europe. Initial market feedback confirms that Sustainable Energy’s low voltage pulsed step technology guarantees at least 5 percent higher efficiencies for low voltage AC battery systems at much lower costs than any other product on the market. Sustainable Energy’s AC battery uses the same software configurable power electronics platform as its Paralex solar inverter, and is configured to directly match the output voltages of all the leading lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries in the market. A key part of Sustainable Energy’s cost and efficiency advantages is the company’s proprietary bi-directional functionality that allows low voltage battery charging and discharging without the need for additional complex and expensive bi-directional DC/DC conversion devices. The bi-directional functionality gives Sustainable Energy’s an edge over designs being developed solely for high voltage solar inverters. With added conversion efficiency, manufactured cost and design simplicity advantages, Sustainable Energy is poised achieve significant market share in this emerging space.

The Cat C175-16 diesel generator set from Caterpillar, Inc. has been certified to meet US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 Interim emission standards. This 60 Hz package, rated at 3,000 to 3,100 ekW for standby and mission-critical power, 2,725 to 2,825 ekW at prime power and 2,500 to 2,600 ekW at continuous power, offers fuel efficiency and lower emissions in a compact footprint. The C175-16 generator set meets EPA Tier 4 Interim emission standards with the Cat clean emissions module (CEM). This after-treatment system features a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) combined with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) module and an air-assisted urea injection system to reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx), hydrocarbons and particulate matter. The placement of the CEM has been optimized to provide a compact footprint, minimizing installation costs.

Subaru’s RGV Industrial Generators have released two new models, the RGV12100 andRGV13100T, which are are the most powerful in Subaru’s Industrial Generator lineup. Featuring Subaru V-Twin engines, the RGV Generators are designed to handle the needs of professional industrial users. The RGV12100 is powered by Subaru’s 22-horsepower EH65 engine and delivers a maximum output of 12,000 watts (10,000-watt standard output rating). Featuring an 11.4-gallon capacity fuel tank, the unit offers 8.2 hours of continuous operation at the rated load. Standard on theRGV12100, an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system provides a precise, steady voltage control output with less fluctuation. The system continuously monitors voltage output to ensure steady power flow, necessary for powering more sensitive electronic equipment. An automatic idle control lowers the engine speed when no electrical power is needed, reducing fuel consumption and minimizing noise. Powered by Subaru’s 18-horsepower EH63, the RGV13100T delivers a maximum output of 13,000 watts (10,000-watt standard output rating). The unit offers an 11.4-gallon capacity fuel tank and 8.9 hours of continuous run time at the rated load. The RGV13100T features a current transformer, allowing both three phase and single-phase operation of the generator for industrial applications. The RGV generators feature a professional-grade control panel that includes an hour meter to monitor total operating hours and voltmeter to monitor the generator’s voltage output. Large capacity steel fuel tanks provide long run times. AC circuit breakers provide reliable overload protection, and GFCI receptacles help ensure operator safety.
