Networking - Products & Services Gateway Monitors and Controls Modbus Devices B&B Electronics has expanded its family of Vlinx Modbus communications gateways with the MESP211, compact gateway designed to convert Modbus ASCII or Modbus RTU serial signals into Modbus TCP Ethernet. The MESP211 connects Modbus devices to Ethernet networks to monitor and control Modbus devices from anywhere on the Ethernet LAN or WAN, and flexible configuration allows serial and Ethernet, masters and slaves. Designed for harsh environments and cramped spaces, the compact (3.1 by 0.9 by 2.0 inch) gateway features a wide (-40°C to 80°C) operating temperature, heavy industrial specifications (61000-6-2 EMC level 3 for harsh environments; IEC60068-2-27 for shock, -6 for vibration and -32 for free fall), and an IP30 metal case that is panel (standard) or DIN rail mountable (with optional adapters). B&B Electronics' Vlinx Manager Software, the same software that comes with the company's higher-end Vlinx MESR900 and MESR400 Modbus Gateways, installs on the user's PC and lets them remotely manage the MESP211 over a LAN or WAN via the built-in web server. Users can take advantage of Modbus messaging priority control and view messaging status in real time via the built-in traffic monitor. The one-port MESP211 Modbus Gateway works with RS-232/422/485 serial signals and is available in two models: the MESP211D offers a DB9 male connector while the MESP211T offers a terminal block connector. Lemos International Releases the Lemos-LMX-WiFi The Lemos-LMX-WiFi module is a compact wireless transceiver that is capable of operation on IEEE 802.b/g/n networks. The WiFi module is supported by a 32-bit microcontroller running a scalable TCP/IP stack. This makes the Lemos-LMXWiFi well suited for wireless embedded applications involving remote control and/or monitoring. The module features a 2 Mbps maximum data rate, unique IEEE MAC address, an IEEE 802.11-compliant RF Transceiver and a maximum range of up to 400 m. The unit is certified by FCC, IC, ETSI and ARIB and supports WEP, WPA-PSK and WPA-2-PSK security. Two model variants are available with an integrated PCB antenna, or external antenna, and come with a scalable, full featured TCP/IP stack. The LEMOS-LMX-WiFi can be powered by any 3.3 V to 6.0 VDC source capable of delivering 200 mA of current. Infrastructure and ad hoc networks are supported. The Lemos-LMX-WiFi is capable of interfacing to external devices that communicate via USART, I2C and SPI. The unit's analog and digital I/O pins are software selectable. The Lemos-LMX-WiFi's 32-bit microcontroller is robust enough to house both the TCP/IP stack and a custom application. Lemos International offers hardware and firmware technical support for customers that wish to deploy a custom Lemos-LMX-WiFi application. Gemalto's M2M Development Kit Boosts Innovation in The Internet of Things Gemalto is simplifying M2M technology and expanding the Internet of Things (IoT) with the launch of the Cinterion concept board for developers. The IoT gives physical objects the ability to automatically transfer information over a network, which creates a platform for smart decisions and continuously improved process and interactions. The Cinterion Concept Board is designed to expand these IoT possi24 www.RemoteMagazine.com bilities through speeding up the creation of innovative solutions in digital signage, automated building applications, remote monitoring and control of devices and more. The development kit simplifies solution design by allowing the community of M2M developers to transform original ideas into prototypes in hours compared to days or weeks with traditional approaches. Leveraging Oracle Java ME Embedded, Gemalto's Cinterion concept board will provide potentially more than nine million Java developers worldwide with an easy and cost-efficient method to engage in the M2M marketplace. The Cinterion concept board is cloud-ready through Gemalto's SensorLogic application enablement platform with secure wireless connectivity enabled by a Cinterion M2M module. The all-in-one kit marries the ease-of-use of Java embedded solutions with an open source interface for Arduino extension boards inspiring the creation of smarter interactive objects and environments. ProSoft Releases New Industrial Wireless Access Point/ Bridge/Repeater ProSoft Technology has released the 802.11n industrial wireless access point/bridge/repeater (RLX2) with Fast Roam Technology. The 802.11abgn fast industrial hotspot is a highspeed wireless Ethernet solution designed for plant-floor automation, SCADA systems, mobile worker Wi-Fi infrastructure and process control systems. This Hotspot offers a range of industrial wireless capabilities including unique features such as Fast Roaming and has added packet-persecond performance and robust communications in demanding environments. These capabilities provide high-speed Ethernet connections for moving machines and vehicles traveling long distances in assembly plants, crane systems and mining. The secure, high speed wireless network reduces project costs, while improving productivity by eliminating mechanical festooning, rails and slip rings for economical and reliable mobile applications. The radio´s Fast Roaming technology uses less than 50 msec time between access points and provides full device bridging. The module provides secure 802.11i and 128-bit AES encryption and operates securely in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz bands. It also has advanced management tools. These tools include IH browser utility, web server and OPC server. The microSD card will automatically store/load configurations, reducing down time. The hotspot is designed for extreme environments and hazardous locations, including oil and gas systems. It is a wireless solution for producer/ consumer PLC/PAC networking, remote I/O, safety I/O, plant backhaul networking, remote video and mobile worker connectivity. The Hotspot utilizes extended operating temperatures of -40°C to 75°C and has agency approvals and certifications with Class1, Division 2 and ATEX Zone 2. The module is high shock/vibration tested. The Shock IEC is 60068 2-6 (20g, three-axis) and Vibration IEC is 60068 2-27 (5 g, 10 to 150 Hz). Richardson RFPD Introduces Two UltraCMOS SPDT RF Switches from Peregrine Richardson RFPD, Inc. has announced immediate availability and full design support capabilities for two RF single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) switches from Peregrine Semiconductor Corp. Designed for LTE and 3G small cells, other wireless infrastructure systems, and land mobile radios targeting LMR to LTE conversion, the switches deliver 30 W power handling and linearity across the UHF/VHF through LTE frequency bands. This reduces board area, power consumption and design-in complexity compared to traditional, discrete solutions. The PE42820 operates from 30 to 2,700 MHz and is a pin-compatible upgraded version of the PE42510A, with a wider frequency and power supply range and external negative supply option. The PE42821 is a pincompatible faster switching version of the PE42820 and operates from 100 to 2,700 MHz. Both devices feature low insertion loss and high power http://www.RemoteMagazine.com
