California State Water Board Recognizes CloudCompli and OC Public Works in the 2016 Data
Innovation Challenge
CloudCompli is proud to be recognized by the California
Water Board for its winning entry in the Board's inaugural
Data Innovation Challenge. The Data Innovation Challenge,
issued following the CA Water Board Data Fair last month,
was to: "create applications, visualizations and other tools to
help harness publicly available water data related to climate
change adaptation, regulatory oversight, and water quality."
Partnering with Orange County Public Works, CloudCompli
built a GIS application harnessing data from Orange County's
water quality monitoring programs and the California's Storm
Water Multiple Action and Report Tracking System (SMARTS)
in order to identify root causes of water quality degradation.
"I was impressed by the ingenuity and innovation exhibited...
and its close connection to the core mission of the Water
Boards to protect water quality," said Tam Doduc, California
State Water Board.
"It was great collaborating with Grant Sharp and his team at
OC Public Works," says Eric Bollens, chief technology officer
at CloudCompli. "Addressing the issue of source identification
for water quality issues, a problem common to all municipal
stormwater programs, is a big step towards incorporating
stormwater into the 'smart cities' of tomorrow.
Ayla Networks Extends its Global IoT Reach
Ayla Networks is formally establishing its presence in Japan.
Ayla has opened a Japan office, hired a regional manager for
Japan, and announced several key partnerships and plans to
launch its Asian IoT cloud service.
Japan has one of the worlds leading manufacturing markets,
but it is currently underserved by IoT companies, said David
Friedman, CEO and co-founder of Ayla Networks. By extending Aylas presence to this fourth global region, we are enabling manufacturers in Japan to take advantage of the same
IoT cloud capabilities as we already provide to manufacturers
in North America, the EU and Chinaand for the manufacturers
in these other regions to tap into the Japanese market.
Ayla plans to add a fourth Ayla IoT cloud servicejoining the
ones already operating in the United States, Europe and
Chinato support the broader Asia region, including Japan.
Ayla cloud services run on the Amazon Web Services (AWS)
platform globally.
"As Ayla expands into more regions and connects more
devices, theres a powerful network effect that benefits every
manufacturer connected to the Ayla IoT cloud," said Bill
Podrasky, vice president of business development at Ayla.
"As we continue to build our IoT platforms capabilities and
features, those advancements are automatically available to
everyone through the Ayla cloud, worldwide."

ZigBee Alliance Welcomes 38 New Members to
Drive IoT Forward
The ZigBee Alliance has announced 38 members have
joined since the beginning of 2016. This rapid growth reflects
continued industry wide support for the organization and its
latest low-power RF solutions for a smarter, greener IoT from
innovative new companies to major, market-moving brands
that are serious about contributing to interoperability, collaboration and unification.
These 38 organizations represent an international movement
to bring the Internet of Things forward on a universal scale
thats not hindered by country borders, brands or language,
said Tobin Richardson, president and CEO, ZigBee Alliance.
Our members are focused, producing results, and ZigBee
3.0 is generating explosive interest as we rally the industry
around the goal of meaningful IoT interoperability via a consolidated approach to the market.
"The flurry in membership activity weve experienced in just
the past four months since announcing ZigBee 3.0, plus
the recent acquisitions of Daintree by Current (by GE) and
GreenPeak by Qorvo, indicate the industrys large-scale
investment in ZigBee technologies for next-generation IoT
products," said John E. Osborne II, Chairman of the ZigBee
Alliance board. "Were proud to see continued growth of the
ZigBee brand and were pressing full-steam ahead."
EY and GE Digital Form Alliance in Industrial
Internet of Things
EY and GE Digital have formed a strategic alliance to develop
and provide Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) services to
help industrial companies achieve increased productivity from
capital assets and processes linked in the cloud.
EY and GE Digital will develop and deliver industry-specific
services based on GE's Predixcloud-based operating system.
The services can help companies reduce operating expenses
and increase revenue through improved machine uptime and
streamlined industrial workflows.
EY, which has been working with GE for more than 10
years, joins GE's ecosystem of global alliance partners,
which gives members access to digital tools and domain
expertise from across GE. EY will provide its extensive experience in business transformation; IoT, data analytics and
IT cybersecurity capabilities; and access to global resources
across multiple industries.
"Within the global economy, CxOs face tough challenges:
the unrelenting pressure to do more with less and optimize
performance whilst controlling costs, as well as the need to
innovate," said Lionel Lamy, associate vice-president, co-lead
‒ European IoT Practice, IDC. "They must get more from their
fixed assets, improve capital ROI and optimize the productivity and value of their increasingly mobile and demanding
workforce. The Internet of Things helps address these issues,
but as a complex and fast-moving market, partnerships must
be formed to ensure a holistic, end-to-end approach. This al-
