SignalFire's Chemical Injection System Optimizes
The Injection Process While Providing Monitoring
and Control
Chemical injection is critical to the
oil field production process and
the second highest operational
expense. During this process,
chemicals are pumped at high
pressure into a well to mitigate a
variety of issues (paraffin or scale
reduction, H2S mitigation, corrosion inhibitors).
If executed properly, chemical injection can enhance oil
production and greatly reduce operating expenses. However, as the process is largely unmonitored and uncontrolled
(often managed with simple timers which are difficult to set
optimally), it is often not optimally set correctly. As a result,
the chemical dosing amount can be wrong. Under dosing
can damage equipment and require premature reworks while
overdosing can result in over-expenditures of tens of thousands of dollars annually.
SignalFire Wireless Telemetry offers the Chemical Injection
System that monitors, controls and optimizes the chemical
injection process to provide a known and measured chemical
dosing rate AND provides diagnostic information to measure
pump performance and operating status.
The only control and diagnostic system for monitoring chemical injection, the SignalFire Chemical Injection System automatically calibrates and monitors pump operation to maintain
a specified injection rate that may be slaved to production
rates. The control and diagnostic system also provides operational visibility into monitoring conditions at the injection site
and verifies and records that chemical injection is working
to specifications. Tank level is also monitored to accurately
verify when refill is needed and that the refill was accurate.
Users have the ability to remotely monitor and control parameters and conditions at the injection site from either a local
RTU/SCADA system or through a central service such as
Wonderware, CygNet or other enterprise monitoring systems.
The Chemical Injection System also can be integrated as part
of the SignalFire Telemetry Remote Monitoring and Control
System for a complete wireless pad automation.
Harsh Environment Modules Maximize Uptime
and Productivity
New additions to WAGO's XTR line of harsh environment
(-40 °C to 70°C extreme temperature and 5g vibration
resistance) I/O, provide added functionality, delivering
Performance Class PLCs, Smart Grid technology and
energy monitoring.
The compact and powerful PFC200 controller is now available in several new harsh environment XTR variants. The
module features varying communication interfaces such as:
Ethernet, RS-232/RS-485, CAN, CANopen and PROFIBUSDP-Slave interfaces. Protocols include DNP3, IEC 61850 and

as a Smart Grid controller.
Three-Phase Power Measurement Modules expand
the application range of the
XTR with modules to help
reduce energy consumption
by monitoring total power
consumption, power factors,
harmonics and more. Like all modules in the XTR series the
new variants combine the benefits of the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM with the ability to operate in the harshest environmental
conditions making the XTR ideal for oil and gas, renewable
energy, substations, ship building and railway applications.
MultiTech and WaterBit Demonstrate the Power
Of IoT Within the Agricultural Community
MultiTech Systems, Inc.
has launched a field trial
with WaterBit, Inc. an agricultural services provider
based in Sunnyvale, Calif.
Utilizing MultiTech's IoT
gateway in combination
with LoRa technology,
MultiConnect mDots and
WaterBit's sensors, WaterBit can now access valuable data from numerous
endpoints throughout its
dense field site, without dependence on spotty, unpredictable
cellular coverage.
"Our field trial with WaterBit demonstrates the power of combining sensor and LoRa technologies to capture vital, hard to
reach information," said Michael Finegan, director of business,
IoT Development, MultiTech. "The Internet of Things enables
these various processes to help increase production and optimize efficiencies. Farming industry needs can now be easily
monitored through this revolutionary 'smart farming' scenario."
The MultiTech MultiConnect Conduit is a configurable,
manageable and scalable communications gateway. Each
Conduit gateway has the ability to manage thousands of MultiConnect mDots, low cost LoRaWAN ready modules able to
connect sensors or appliances, and transmit their data over
any cellular network to a customer's preferred data management platform. WaterBit is utilizing the MultiConnect Conduit
configured with a LoRa card to connect multiple remote
mDots with WaterBit's patent pending sensors. WaterBit will
access critical data pertaining to temperature, humidity, and
moisture using these sensors and will monitor the data via its
cloud system.
LoRa is a wireless technology developed to enable low-datarate communications over long distances utilizing sensors and
actuators for M2M and IoT applications. It is particularly attractive for many applications because of its long-range capability,
ability to enable battery-operated assets to function for years
and its low cost/high ROI benefits. Key to the field trial is the
