Family Coppola Winery has appointed Gary Sitton
as vice president of winemaking for all three of its
wineries: Francis Ford Coppola, Virginia Dare and
Domaine DeBroglie. Previously, Sitton was the director of winemaking for Ravenswood Winery.

Alice Tétienne has been named cellarmaster for Champagne Henriot. Tétienne, who
was previously at Champagne Krug, succeeds Laurent Fresnet, who was with the
house for 13 years.

Daniel and Florence Cathiard of Château Smith Haut Lafitte in Bordeaux have purchased the Flora Springs estate in Napa Valley. The
deal includes a 280-acre property, with 58 acres planted to vines; they
will rename the property Cathiard Family Estate. This is the Cathiards' first investment outside of France.

Three Barbados distillers, Mount Gay, Foursquare and Saint Nicholas Abbey are petitioning for a Geographical Indication (GI) for their
rums. A fourth, West Indies Rum Distillery, owned by Maison Ferrand,
is in opposition. Barbados is the second Caribbean island seeking a
GI after Jamaica achieved one in 2019.

Hall Family Wines has promoted Megan
Gunderson to director of winemaking.
Gunderson has worked for the company since
2005 and was previously the winemaker for
WALT wines.
California's Rhône-variety pioneer Randall Grahm has sold Bonny
Doon Vineyard to WarRoom Ventures. Grahm, who founded the winery 35 years ago, will stay on as winemaker and partner.
In Washington State, Delille Cellars has promoted Nick Bernstein to
winemaker, and oenologist Mari Rossi to assistant winemaker. Jason
Gorski, under whose watch Delille earned W&S Top 100 status the
past three years, remains the director of winemaking and viticulture.
Marcus Rafanelli has taken over as winemaker for L'Ecole No.41 in
Walla Walla, Washington. Rafanelli, who taught oenology and viticulture at Walla Walla Community College for the past four years,
is a WWCC alum and worked the 2007 harvest at L'Ecole with Mike
Sharon, whom he replaces.
Burgundy winemaker Michel Lafarge, of Domaine Lafarge in Volnay,
passed away on January 15, 2020. He was 91 years old.
Julie Cavil has been appointed as chef de caves of Krug, taking over
from Eric Lebel, who will stay on as deputy director.

Delas Frères, founded in 1835, has moved from Tournon-sur-Rhône
to Tain l'Hermitage with the opening of its new winery. Carl Fredrik
Svenstedt designed the site, a 65,000-square-foot facility of stone, glass
and steel at the base of the Hermitage hill. The winery is open to visitors Monday to Saturday from 9:30am to 12:00pm and from 1:30pm
to 6:30pm.
Joe Fee, of Fee Brothers bitters and cocktail mixers, passed away on
February 6, 2020. He was 55.
The 8th edition of the World Atlas of Wine, 8th edition, by Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson, took home the Drink Award in the André
Simon Food & Drink Book Awards 2019.
