its economy
shows.
There are 16,856 Wyomingites employed by the charitable
nonprofit sector. That translates to 8% of Wyoming's nongovernment
workforce, and significant economic impact in
communities of all sizes. To obtain this number, the Wyoming
Nonprofit Network conducted a census of nonprofits in 2021
and supplemented information with data from GuideStar.

The Wyoming Nonprofit Network contracted with the
University of Wyoming Center for Business and Economic
Analysis (CBEA) to evaluate the economic impact of the
charitable nonprofit sector in Wyoming. The Wyoming
Nonprofit Network provided data to CBEA for 1,135 nonprofits.
These are nonprofits that complete an annual IRS 990 tax
return or submitted their information as part of the Network's
census project. The remaining 2,401 nonprofits are very small
organizations, under $50,000 in annual revenue and are not
required to complete the IRS 990. Churches are not required to
complete an IRS Annual Tax Return, therefore their economic
impact is greatly underreported in this report.
