SGL Solutions At CCW 2015

A

t CCW, SGL will highlight a
number of content management
solutions that provide workflow
benefits to broadcasters, postproduction facilities, and news/sports
organisations.
SGL's FlashNet content management
solution is designed to integrate
seamlessly with MAM or automation
control systems to provide significant
improvements to workflow efficiency
without intruding on the users' familiar
desktop.
SGL's Open System Architecture

provides scalable solutions with
substantial cost and workflow benefits.
SGL will highlight and discuss the
following solutions on booth:
Asset Migration Service: The
migration of tape assets from one
platform to another, or from one
generation to another is a costly and
time-consuming process. The FlashNet
Migration Service enables a whole
migration to be set up as a single
background task that optimises the
use of available archiving equipment
and speeds up processes, reducing

migration times by half.
Cloud-based archiving to Amazon
S3: Cloud storage is playing an
increasing role within archiving
workflows. SGL, working closely with
both Aspera and Data Expedition,
enables broadcasters and content
owners to transfer media to AWS
cloud service at a guaranteed speed,
providing an additional means
of storage and disaster recovery
workflows.
New
entry-level
FlashPack:
The most effective content storage
management system 'in a box'
FlashPack provides all elements of
an integrated Hierarchical Storage
Management (HSM) archive. There
is no requirement to purchase any
additional hardware or software and
the new entry-level version enables
smaller broadcasters and content
owners to have a fully expandable
archive.
Avid Web Services integration:
Whilst the fully implemented Avid
Interplay Archive provides a seamless
user experience, smaller work
groups may require a paired down

version. SGL's support for Avid Web
Services means that customers can
use the archive capabilities that they
currently require, but can employ Avid
Integrated Archive at any time in the
future without the need to re-archive
any content.
New version of FlashWeb: The
latest version of FlashWeb includes
enhanced search capabilities and
simplified
navigation
allowing
broadcasters and content owners to
easily archive and restore material to
any configured FlashNet disk or tape
group. This can be achieved without
the need for a controlling MAM or
automation system.
Enhanced API with support for
REST via new SGL web service: SGL
is introducing the upcoming version of
its FlashNet API, supporting REST via
its new web service. This will further
simplify FlashNet integration for
partners and is to be formally released
later in the year.
Both technical and commercial SGL
staff will be available on the booth
at CCW to answer any questions or to
discuss any project.

n New York, Matrox Video will
feature the award-winning Monarch
HDX dual-channel H.264 encoder for
broadcast streaming and recording,
and the VS4Recoder Pro multi-camera
recording app. Additionally, the new
Matrox M264 multi-channel 4:2:2 10bit H.264 encoder card for developers
will be presented.
Matrox Monarch HDX is a compact,
easy-to-use,
dual-channel
H.264
encoding appliance. Designed for
complete workflow flexibility, Monarch
HDX features 3G-SDI and HDMI
inputs with frame synchronization
to compensate for unstable
sources.

VS4Recorder Pro is designed for use
with Matrox VS4 quad HD capture cards

redundancy, or can be set to stream
and/or record at individual settings.
From any SDI or HDMI input source,
such as a camera or switcher, Matrox
Monarch HDX generates two H.264encoded video streams at bitrates
from 200 Kbps to 30 Mbps. Powerful
scaling, deinterlacing, and noise
reduction engines ensure only pristine
images are sent to the encoders. For
streaming purposes, the encoders
use either RTMP or RTSP protocol to
deliver live streams to local, or cloudbased, media servers. In recording
applications, the encoders write MP4
or MOV files to local USB drives, SD
cards, or network-mapped drives for
post-event editing or archiving. An
additional, dedicated H.264, encoder
provides remote preview of the input.
New features include implementation
of Ross Video's DashBoard Connect
protocols, and the introduction
of Monarch HDX Dev Tools that
let network- or cloud-based video
management platform developers

and A/V integrators control Monarch
HDX from within their own custom
environments.
VS4Recorder Pro is designed for
use with Matrox VS4 quad HD capture
cards. Each VS4Recorder Pro system
frame-accurately captures up to four
video and audio inputs to create files
for use with popular editing apps
from Adobe, Apple, and Avid, and for
archiving. H.264 is provided in either
MOV or MP4 wrappers. AVI files can
be created using the high-quality
Matrox MPEG 2 I-Frame codec. MOV
QuickTime files can be created using
DV, DVCPRO, DVCPRO50, and DVCPRO
HD. VS4Recorder Pro also functions
as a multiviewer, offering pristine
video quality, even when monitoring
interlaced sources on progressive
computer
monitors.
VS4-based
systems are ideal for multi-camera live
production streaming with Telestream
Wirecast for Windows.
